Paint it if you'd like. Mask appropriately. I would say that you're probably knocking some cash off of the resale value if you ever decide to sell it....
I used to use a paint called Bowflage, IIRC. Allowed to quickly remove and re-paint based on deployment area. |

Dayum Mark! Looks good! Still would like to know if therecis anything special on the PEQ-2 I need to worry about besides the lenses.
ETA, the big rubber switch on top probably won't hold paint well. Still, someone must have given it a shot. |

One of our older work guns. This was done from Kat Performance Coatings and the paint has yet to chip on anything.

After I dial it in. Still waiting for the parts to assemble my PVS-14 helmet mount. By next weekend I'll have everything set up then I'll paint.

Top rail mounting works, it leaves a blur on the bottom of a scope, a lesser blur for a magnified scope, but it bothers me. When using iron, it blocks substantial amount of sight picture below the front sight post, leaving just the protective ears and post visible through the rear peep. I mount mine on the side like Vic, except I mount it on the right.
The PEQ-15 is lower profile, that gets mounted on top
I paint everything on my weapons, on the PEQ-2A there's precious little to paint so I just taped the sides, good enough

I might do just that around Thanksgiving
Hell I painted all of my ACOGs, Leupolds and USO SN3, I'm just lazy enough to not want to tape up all the parts that need to be covered 
I'll probably paint it along with the new LMT MRP CQB upper I just got later next week
