Wish I could get a picture of it, but it's part of the larue screensaver.

It's a picture of the rear of a PEQ-15, but the IR illuminator screws are raised turrets with protective wings.

This is the only picture I've found of this type of PEQ-15

Was this an earlier version of the PEQ-15? Just curious why they changed the designed.

You're looking at the LA-5/PEQ, you usually see them in tan - and they're SOF variant of the AN/PEQ-15.  Almost every photo you see of a SOF weapon that looks like it has a PEQ-15 on it actually doesn't - it has an LA-5.

It's basically supposed to be a PEQ-15 that goes to 11.

Actually the only real difference between a PEQ-15 and LA-5 are the accessories and spare parts that come with each (BII).  The version that is pictured with the raised turrets is just the earlier production model that was changed to the slot-screw type later because of issues with the turrets breaking off.

Actually thats false its a higher power variant built specifically for SOF, it has a 25mw high mode for the visible and the illuminator is 80 mw instead of 30 on the standard power. It has two safety screws instead of one and also costs 3x as much compared to the standard power peq 15. Part of the requirement from special forces was the unit had to have thumb turrets for the illuminator so you're able to adjust elev. and windage at various ranges on the fly without having to fumble with a flathead. They wanted the aim lasers on the other hand to be flathead so you coudn't bump your zero off fast roping etc, a common problem with the peq2. To me its the cats meow!

PISTON925 you are 100% correct on the LA-5 over the PEQ-15. The only thing that you left out is the manual for the LA-5 which is a little different form the PEQ-15 and it is writen for the Navy due to the fact that LA-5 units are issued out of CRANE. There is also a LA-5A and that difference is the illuminator, which is 150 mw. All LA-5 units have the brush guards on the illuminator adjusters and the flat head screw adjusters for the aiming lasers..

chinese, iranian, s korean military intelligence doesn't need to pay spies to export manuals anymore. They get all the specs they need right here.
