Well I went to the Gun show in Reno this weekend and picked up this A2 upper. I'm not sure what the forge marks tell me other than Cerro forged it, and I don't know what that other symbol is/means.
I think I want to do a b@stard build... 16" mid with a1 grip and buttstock with Magpull hand grips. I have an Anderson Lower to go with it. What do you guys think? I already have a 20" build, but I'm still putting ideas together.
By the way, thats oil around the door, It looks funny in the picture lol.

What are guys doing?  Are you just uploading raw images from your cameras and phones?

2.5 gigs and 2.7 gigs, it kills us guys that still have to cruise the net with slow DSL!

Lord!

Sorry it's such an inconvenience for you Dave. I have DSL also and have no problem at all loading the pictures. Hmmm...

I bet you don't have DSL that is slow as the DSL I have!

But the question still remains, are you guys uploading raw pictures from your phone and cameras?

You have to use an image hosting site like Image Shack or Photo Bucket. Go search YouTube for "posting photos to forums." Lots of videos telling you how to do it. Or go ask a teenager to show you how :)

Ha! Maybe... I feel your pain!!!! I have 5meg dsl and sometimes my phone is faster.
Anyway, the pictures are from my phone and they are hosted on a site called angelfire. Maybe that's not the best site to use, but I already had web pages on that site, so I used it. If there is somewhere better I should be using for this site, please let me know and maybe I can redo them. The picture size of both of them are 201kb and 234kb

Anybody recognize the marking next to forge code?
I have not seen it before.  Looks added at a later time?

Thanks Derek I'm excited about building this one... just got a get a couple parts at a time... Next is the furniture and barrel! I already have the lower parts kit and Anderson lower, The color doesn't match exactly, but I didn't expect it to, and you really can't tell unless your looking for it or close to it.

I am stuck at 1.5 mps, pathetic I know, but that is all we can get out here in the sticks.

That said, the upper looks good, I have no problem with it, I would have just liked to see it a bit quicker, it took 10 minutes for me to download those images!

I really was not trying to be an asshole, I was just wondering how you guys upload your images, my wife has ran an internet company for the last 20 years on this connection and she has learned how to optimize things so that even people on dialup can see them in a reasonable amount of time, hell both my camera and my phone ask me if I want to optimize for the internet when I upload an image so they are not large!

I am sure it is not anglefire, it is my connection.

Don't blame it on "the sticks" as I'm just 45 miles north of Houston and my internet is very slow.  In fact, when I pay bills with online banking I have to exit wifi just to get a dependable connection. It wasn't always this way, but the surroundibg area has really grownand not sure this company is aware of upgrading. There are not any decent competiters. It's pathetic.

Wow... This post went south in a hurry...

Anyone know what that other symbol is on the upper? Maybe an upside down E maybe?
I know what the keyhole is, but not the other one. Not that it really matters because I've already bought the upper. I was just curious is all.

Could be an Emco, they converted M16A1's to M16A2's for the military contracted by Colt. I have one of their uppers on an A2 build I can look at it.

Was out of town so it took me a few days to look.

My Emco M16A2 upper has a "P" and splintered "A" forge codes on it.

No idea what it is, sorry

Well I finally have the thing finished. Still not sure of that forge mark, it looks like an upside down E but maybe it was just stamped upside down and was supposed to be right side up... who knows... or cares at this point!

Wow, I love that camo job! I have a little mossberg 22 I'm planning on doing a camo job on before I move up to painting the more expensive stuff! Although, I do have another 80% lower to finish off, and I'm thinking of doing something very similar to your carbine....
