On my AR15, I have a perfect co-witness between my BUIS and front post with a red dot optic.  When/if that red dot fails, I can flip up the rear BUIS and keep on firing.

What options do I have like this for my brand new SGL 20?  Obviously I'd like this optic on the front handguard.  I've seen some pics of mounts that seem to replace the top handguard that keep that optic very, very low..almost giving a 1/3 co-witness with the rear sight of an AK.  Nobody has pictures of red dots co-witnessing so I'm assuming there is no way to get perfect co-witnessing?  Or is there a way???

THanks in advance!

The Ultimak + Aimpoint does allow you to cowitness perfectly

The Konus I have mounted on my SLR105 is low enough to cowitness, but the emitter blocks the view of the front sight post.

Cool, that looks nice.  What I'd like to know is what kind of rail attachment is that that replaces the upper handguard.  I see youhave a light mount that attaches on top but hangs off to the side.  I've ordered a tri-rail lower handguard for a pistol grip and light mount (i live in a very rural area where it's pitch dark and I have a 700 lumen light to mount).  ALso, what did you mean by the emitter blocking the view of the front sight post?

The Bushnell TRS-25 will co-witness on an Ultimak as well.  Nice budget MRD.

Oops, I get it.  The Ultimak is the actual handguard replacement with the integrated rail.  Very nice how it keeps it so low.  So then with the Ultimak, I'd need a low mounted red dot optic in order for the dot to be between the iron sights.  It's hard to see it from the side, but I trust you guys are actually cowitnessing (and not "1/3rd" cowitnessing).

I wonder what size objective you need to have to keep the dot between the irons?  Is 30mm about the max size, or can a 40 or 50 work?  Be nice to see a cowitness picture down the sights of an AK.  Got any?

I'm not cowitnessing with the Konus but I don't personally care about that, that's why I have a quick disconnect mount. I am glad to hear the BSA will cowitness though, that's useful info to pass on with questions like these.

Here's what I mean by the emitter blocking the front sight post:

Notice how it's on the bottom...when you line up your sights the emitter is in the way. I don't have any pics of the Aimpoint cowitnessing because it's mounted on my Krink which can't cowitness anyway. I may get around to swapping them for pics or maybe picking up another H-1 for the SLR105 but the Konus is doing just fine at 1/6 the price

Co-witnessing my irons through the Aimpoint Micro sitting on my UltiMAK gas tube rail is easy.

I got a deal on an Ultimak rail and picked up a Konus T-1 look alike.  I have not shot it at the range but I like how it feels so far.  How is the Konus holding up for you guys?  Battery life?

No, it will not co-witness with anything

Are there any quadrails on the market that will offer co-witness with the right sight?

Ultimak. That's about it, if you mean handguard rails.

ultimak has a patent on mounting optics low enough to co-witness. until that patent runs out, the only people legally cowitnessing will be ultimak.

they also sell a lower with the upper.

Not sure of the overall battery life but I left mine on overnight after a range trip the other day and it was still on about 20 hours later. Mine is mounted to my Ultimak and seems to be doing fine after about 500 rounds on 2 trips.

Ultimak makes a great tube rail. If you want to co-witness irons on an Ultimak, make sure that the RDS you buy has an emitter to the side (not the bottom) so the emitter will not block the front sight post.
