I have been plnning this project for over 5yrs now the gun will be a replica of the Albanian ak-47, however the refferance pics i have seem to indicate the the guns are chi-com type 56's!! But the reciever selector letters will have L  & D. I  am very excited about this project it been in the works off and on. The reciever is a armory usa 1.6, the barrel assembly is a poly. i have been ordering poly parts from kengs. not to sure of what color stock set to use for some reason the aAbanian pics i have show a litte darker orange than the poly ones in the pics. but i did a set to try to match the color. Any hints or suggetstion would be welcom, or any more refferance on Albanian ak-47's. Oh the poly barrel assembly is brandy new took it off a b-west reciever. If some one wants it (the reciever) let me know it is preban

Sounds like a great project to do.  Certainly a very unique build!  I'm doing a North Korean "Type 58" project myself.  The Albanians seemed to have contracted with China for "Type 56" Kalashnikovs (certainly the milled receiver Kalashnikovs) and/or built their own on Chinese tooling regarding the stamped "Type 56" rifles.  A tell-tell sign of an Albanian Kalashnikov is usually the lack of the dimples on the stamped receiver rifles.  These might help for reference for you:

Here's a couple - note the selector markings as well as the Chinese style rivet pattern on the receiver and trigger guard:

And a quick photo taken from the Tokoi book of Albanian soldiers in the field with stamped "Type 56" style rifles - also not the lack of dimples:

The Albanians also had imported "Type 56" rifles from China that probably retained their Chinese military selector markings as well as the "L" and "D" export-version selector markings.  Once tooling arrived, the Albanians may have gone to their own markings.  But interestingly, China also made "Type 56" Kalashnikovs without dimples, also, which may have been many of what Albania received possibly under a contract:

Photo of a Chinese sailor with a dimple-less "Type 56":

And a commercially exported Norinco "Type 56" owned by www.theakforum.net member "Xcibes" that lacks a dimple on the right side of the receiver but has one on the left:

The lack of the dimples would definately be a unique trait of an Albanian Kalashnikov to incorporate into an Albanian clone project but difficult to do.  But a Chinese stamped receiver would be a great candidate.  One could go a few ways on an Albanian clone but putting the Chinese military selector markings on it might give the best of both worlds - a Chinese "Type 56" military clone and an Albanian contracted Kalashnikov clone.  Regardless, sounds like you've got a great start with that barrel assembly and motivation - look forward to seeing your Albanian "Type 56"!

Forgot to mention - I think I've got a few more Albanian photos if you need them for reference.  Mostly of milled receiver rifles, I think.

Damn Rayman, your depth of reference never ceases to amaze.

Just hope to help folks out if possible - we've all got to start somewhere.  It's just nice that these days, recent Kalashnikov enthusiasts can get a LOT more information and have a LOT more resources than when some of us started-out a decade or two ago.

You could use a WASR as a donor reciever then add the Albanian selector markings, have it built by a reputable smith. You can have all the Romanian markings moved to the bottom of the reciever, Ted Marshall can do this.

But it would have the European rivet pattern front trunnion, the Albanian AKs I've seen have had the Chinese pattern.

Ah, but a good gunsmith that specializes in Kalashnikov projects (Marshall Arms, Piece of History Firearms, etc.) could probably do it justice.  Just weld-up the Euro pattern rivet holes.  Before the AWB ended, Ted Marshall used a pre-ban Chinese receiver for a AKS-74U "Krinkov" or a AK-74 build (can't remember which one at the moment) in order for the rifle to retain a side-folding buttstock.  He managed to make it look like a Euro/Russian pattern.

however the parts i have wont fit a euro 1mm reviever that why i opted for armory 1.6 as me parts are of chinese decent!!!!!

True that.  Just spitballing ideas here but having a gunsmith "fill-in" the dimples could also be another thought.
