Can this be done?

DO the trunnions match?

It's a 7.62 WASR with a Bulgy 7.62 krinkov. Obviously this would be difficult, but is it doable?

Manty Thanks in advance!

sure it's possible. I would kust cough it up and buy another receiver. I don't know what the diameter the trunion is on a Romanian, or a bulgy barrel. The barrel may need to be machined down, or the trunion replaced completely. Plus the rear trunion will have to be removed and milled for the folding stock.

If you have a krink kit, i'd suggest just building one up from scratch.

You would ahve to modify or replace literally everything but the trigger gaurds and saftery selector.  far cheaper to just find an Arsenal Krink for sale.

I was thinking you would just have to replace the gasblock and cut the barrel, but I got similar replies in THIS POST

It's actually not mine, a buddy wants to do it.

He bought a full Krink bbl with with gas block and all the bbl assembly.

What would be invlovled  for him to pull this off? (he wont start this till all the NFA stuff is taken care of obviously).

Also, where would be a place for him to pick up a shorter piston?( I assume he would need one)

How did you go about doing this with your SAR1

Thanks guys,

Jason

If you are asking if you can fiel the SBR paperwork and then have the barrel chopped on your WASR and mount a Krink gas bock/flash hider combo, well, yeah you can do that.  You will a shorter gas piston and a shorter gas tube depending on how much you chop your barrel.  that actually isn't all that terribly expesnive.

I think the problem is your terminology, you asked if you could turn your WASR into a Krinkov.  A Krinkov has  the stubby barrel, special gas block, a rear sight mounted on the topcover and a special hinged top cover, a different rear sight block, a sidefolding sotck witha special rear trunnion and a specil lock on the left side of the front trunion that retains the folded stock.

So depending on how far you want to take it it can be pretty cheap (chopping the barrel) or pretty expensive (full conversion)

Not trying to be a dick, just trying to point out what you want and what you were asking is what was causing the confusion!

If you are looking to doa barrel chop pretty cheap, find someone to help press out the barerl and Restorit1 does barrel chops inlcuding all the gas tube work and repressing the front site base for a very reasonable price.

Here is what my Overland DesertDog 74 looks like now...

Here is a concept pic of what it should look like when it comes back after being SBR'ed by Overland...

It will be a little longer than a true Krink(1" or less), but that is so we can use the standard length railed aluminum handguard.

I have shot a Krinkov in the past and didn't care for how short the handguard was.

For the SBR conversion we are using a K-Var Krink gas piston, gas tube, and FSB.

Can't wait to get it back home to see if the real gun comes close to the concept pic!

Since noone has said it bluntly, your friends' idea is retarded.  Build a new gun.  What you're doing is stripping a Chevy Corsica to it's frame and building up a 1972 Chevy Nova up around it.

Just... so stupid, in so many ways.
