I don't think I've posted under the AK forums yet, so just figured I'd stop by and say hello. As I've just purchased a new ak74, and shot it for the first time this past weekend, I've got to say

for fun of shooting it rates right up there with any of my guns. I've owned lots of AR15's, but for some reason this rifle has got me thinking of getting more into AK's. My GF shot it too, and wants one for

herself.

Between all of my military type rifles, I think the 74, and my AR180 are the two most enjoyable to shoot. I've only put 500 rnds, through it so far, but had no issues. The accuarcy wasn't too bad either.

I've got to say I think I'm hooked. I actually owned an egyptian ak 47 about 10 years ago, but it seemed to have magazine issues and I ended up

selling it.

This rifle came with what looks like a mount built into the left side of the reciever for a scope mount. Does anyone know

what mount will fit it?

Me enjoying the AK goodness

Not my AK, but same side mount

K-var will have a mount that you need as well as many other products.

check out some of the military scopes for sale - that will slide right on...
If you have your sights set on an Aimpoint or something then you can also buy a military mount that goes right one....

Must be nice to walk out your back door and start shooting. I'm very envious....

There are lots of combloc optics that will fit actually.

Some of these are a bit eclectic, but they are all very good scopes. You'll probably have to decide if you want a magnified optic or a red dot and take it from there.

SGL31 with PK-AS red dot

SLR105A1 with PK-AS red dot

SGL31 with Rakurz-A ("red dot")

SLR105 with PK-AV red dot

Saiga-12 with Aimpoint on side rail BP-02 mount. You can mount a variety of western optics to the side rail this way.

SLR107UR  Kobra red dot with 4 reticule options

POSP 4x24 magnified. Probably the best all around scope you can get for your money.

SGL31 with PO 3.5x21P (3.5x magnified)

SGL31 with 1P29 (4x magnified)

SGL31 with NSPU/1PN34 night vision scope

You could go with an Ultimak gas tube rail and something like an Aimpoint micro, Konus micro or Primary Arms micro:

You've left me with lots of ideas.  I'm gonna have to do some more research online and then decide what I exactally want.  I'm still a little confused on the side mount, but it looks as if the normal mounts have a spring catch, and possibly the aftermarket stuff has allen/screw type locks.  I'm  thinking I'd like to go with a red dot type optic, but your pictures have got me thinking again.
