Hi gang,

Looking to get some input on what handguard you guys prefer/lean to that has rail options... Was looking hard the CAA RS47 option:

but wanted to get some education.

Also, anyone know what hanguard rail this is from the magpul site?

Searched but could be a dupe

Thanks!

The rails in the bottom picture are Ultimak. As someone who's actually used them they are too heavy and bulky with a hefty price tag to boot. Their gas tube rails are awesome, but I'd pass on the lower rails.

So would going with a polymer one like the CAA be a better compromise for weight considerations?  Like the ultimak gas tube mount but yeah, pricey...

It kinda comes down to your preference. Some people don't mind the weight. The pros to the polymer option you posted are the weight and smoother ergonomics. Pros to the Ultimak is more rail room to fine tune, add a AFG, or lights, etc.

I have a big quad rail on this AMD I just got, the MTU010 from UTG. Its heavy, but I like it. And fits really good and tight on my rifle. I plan on adding an angled foregrip, thumb break, etc, so I want the rail room.

it all comes to personal preference .

Ultimak gas tube with K-Var lower handguard. If you need a lower rail for a vertical grip then just bolt on a section of rail.

I'm a fan of the TDI LHV-47 myself, especially when used in conjunction with an Ultimak gas tube.  The LHV-47 is a highly functional and rock solid handguard.

I went with the Ultimak on the top and the CSS tubular rail on the bottom.  Light weight and can add rails if I need them

That looks nice.

All these are looking good... Think i'm leaning between the midwest set and the TDI/CAA...  looks like the TDI LHV47S and CAA RS47  arethe same designs, they look near identical... Same manufacturer possibly?

The input has been tremendous, thanks fellas.

I have the CAA myself, the rails at the 3 and 9 o'clock can be removed and it doesn't way weigh much. Keep it simple.
