I just saw that these are "on sale" at a popular vendor for $130!

I remember buying a couple at $60 each not more than a year ago.

Does anyone know when/why these shot up in price? Did they stop importation? Fulfilling overseas military contracts?

They fluctuate all the time. I just think importation from Romania is sporadic.

Are they Romanian or are they "Romanian"?

Either way, I have seen and bought them anywhere from $50 to $150 depending on the political environment over the years. I have seen them listed for more, but never been a player above that range.

For that price on sale, they are likely Romanian Top-loading Drum magazines. (Apex has on sale for 109 BTW). I have never seen these below $80 in recent years.

The Romanian rear loading Drums go for 75-85, and can sometimes be bought in quantity for as little as 60-70.

Yep I've had my Romy top loader for a long time and I love it. I had a Chinese one loaded it from back wind up and I didn't like it not as simple I sold it. The apex one mentioned looks identical to the one I have.

The top loaders are definitely more solid and durable, built like tanks. The wind-ups are definitely easier to load.

Yes, as did the Yugoslavians!  But the Russians started it all with their top-loading drums.

Everyone knows Chinese 75-round > nearly everything (other than Chinese 100-round).

(I only say this because I have one and feel like it's the best cause I said so )

Aim sold them years ago for $69.  Top loaders.

I bought 6 back then.  That's the cheapest I have ever seen those.

I don't think they've really come back down in price since the last panic.

Several years ago Century had a deal that for every Wasr a FFL purchased, Century would include a Romy drum with the gun for free. So the FFL's sold the drums for $60, & that was all pure profit. You didn't actually think the FFL would include a drum for free with each Wasr just because that's how they received it, did you?  GARY

I bought one for $75 in the spring.

I wouldn't give much more than that anyway.
