Burkey, Awsome piece! Can someone tell me what the big deal with series II kimbers is? WTF is everyones problem with the firing pin block? Does it really f@#$ things up or is it a solution for a problem that actually could occur? Thanx in advance. -Bub-

Thanks! As you know 1911 owners tend to be pretty crazy. They like the old fashioned things, thats the reason they keep supporting them so fanatically. The 1911 is old fashioned, outdated, and pretty poor compared to other more modern auto pistols out there, but it is a piece of our history. And when you go changing what is a part of our history, people get mad, really mad. As far as I can honestly tell, it does mess up anything, but it really isn't needed either. It does complicate assembly, but so does a full length guide rod. |

Anyone know who the stock grips on the Warrior are made by? They look like a nice design, are they better than say, Pachmyers?
I need to get something thinner and not as slippery as the pimp-ass Ivory grips that came on my Les Baer. |

"Better" is a subjective term. As to the stock grips, unsure who makes them..... the majority of the Warriors in this thread are wearing Gunner Grips. They're a good alternative. If you want stock Warrior grips, maybe one of the owners here who've replaced them would sell (keeping mine for originality). Try the EE and see if you can find a pair of take offs.... (try them first, there may be a reason many of us have replaced them ).

I received an email today from Kimber.
They declined to disclose the supplier, and declined to sell grips as parts due to production demands. DaddyDett |

To Whom It May Concern,
I believe that there are more than enough photos and information on the Kimber Warrior/Desert Warrior in this thread to warrant tacking it. PLEASE TACK THIS THREAD. Thanx in advance. -Bub- |

Is there a difference between KimPro and KimProII? Does KimProII suck as well?

I've read a few complaints about a Kimpro finish (unsure of II or not, or of the difference).
My Desert Warrior has a seemingly really tough and nice finish. The "peeling out of the box" stuff I've read about seems like poor metal prep prior to finishing. I'd be surprised if Kimber gave any grief about repairing that under warranty. |

How hard would it be to make a Warrior as accurate as a CQB (1"/25yards)? What kind of parts would be needed?

I really want one, but investing so much in an already pricey pistol is hard for me to do. |

What is the deal with some Warriors that have a solid trigger and some have the three hole trigger?
Nice pistols guys. I've been working on the wife for a few months so I can get one. |

Thats the second time you have tried to pass up that POS as a Warrior . Great looking TLE, I noticed that you now have an internal extractor. Your new extractor really makes the whole pistol look 100% better, even though the old one worked great. You know you'll eventually you are going to have to just break down and buy a Warrior right? No matter how hard you try it will never be a Warrior . |

|
Thanks General_Tso now all I have to do is save some cash. Will someone please tack this thread? I will post photo after purchase.

LOL- my extractor broke. So much for all that "yeah it works" crap I said. And yes, I know it will never be a Warrior, its a Warrior Eater Aside from series 2...they're pretty much the same...except mine has a better finish and frontstrap checkering...and cost less From a looks standpoint, I gotta admit, I do like the Novak style sights more, and I wouldn't mind throwing on a MSH with a lanyard loop. Can't we all just get along????? |
|||
|
LOL, I had no idea that extractor broke, makes me question some of the MIM in my pistol. I honestly doubt yours costs less than a Warrior. I think you pistol looks alot better than a Warrior(except the sights), especially the trigger and checkering. Finish looks better, the finish on my Warrior is CRAP. If I may ask, what finish did you use on your TLE and who did it for you? I would like to have the same done to my Warrior if possible. Thanks!

After the de-MIMing process/trigger job...it definitely cost more than the warrior..I simply was referring to the base price- for someone who is going to do a complete de-miming, I think the TLE RL is a better gun to do it on, simply because the frame, slide, and barrel are identical. If you're replacing the rest of the parts...well, who cares? Might as well buy the cheaper one... You get different sights, but also get frontstrap checkering. I wouldn't mind an ambi safety, but frankly, I'd never use it. I paid 800 for my TLE RL, and most people are paying 900+ for their warriors, which aside from being true non-buttraped 1911 design..have less features. I can deal with the firing pin block, because a simple swap of a firing pin completely removes that from the equation. The parts aren't hurting anything being there as they are now. Functionally, I like my mepros, which is why they are still there. Love the sight picture, but I think the novaks look better. The finish on the slide...believe it or not...is Kimber's base oxide finish. It looks amazing, especially compared to my old slide, which I honestly think they botched. The frame always looked nice. The trigger and the hammer were ordered black from kings, and they just happened to match pretty well. So, the gun has the original finish, and its pretty damn tough too. |

Dont put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Cause if you do it today and you like it...you can do it again tomorrow |
Marskman14;
How did you go from an external extractor to the internal? I have a GC RL 2 and the EE is the one thing that concerns me the most about my gun. (They didn't have the Warriors on the market when I got my GC/RL). Thanks, |

The Warrior is similar to the ICQB that Kimber supplies to the MCSOCOM Det but it is not identical. For one thing the saftey on the MC model is illegal for civilian use, (no passive saftey) and I believe the rail systems are different. See the following article for some good info on how the ICQB came about: http://www.ar15.com/content/swat/200312-SOCOM.pdf. May be some other diff's between them as well but yea, the Warrior rocks!
