Was at the shot show this week, and came across my next 1911:
It's a Talo edition Wiley Clapp model. Per Talo's facebook page, here's the stats:
Colt Wiley Clapp CCO
Prototype photo. See it live in the Colt booth at SHOT 2014
Steel, Commander-length slide Series 70 , rear slide serrations, lowered and flared ejection port
Aluminum, Officer’s ACP receiver
Special metal work by Pete Single. Checker front strap and mainspring housing 25 lpi, round butt, flare mag well
4.25 inch Nation Match barrel
Novak extra wide (.170) notch, LoMount rear sight
Novak Brass bead front sight.
Altamont “finger print” Tactical Oval grips, round butt (altered for the short butt)
Controls---Mag catch, safety, beavertail---as on other Wiley Clapp 1911s
Original long trigger, no holes
I handled it at the show, and I was extremely impressed. Felt very nice in the hands and balanced well. I liked the lighter-weight of the aluminum frame too. Feed ramp is like a regular steel framed 1911, not a ramped barrel in case anybody was wondering.
The only things I didn't care for was the sight and the small-ish thumb safety. The gold-bead front and black rear was nice, but I prefer night sights on a CCW. The thumb safety was kinda small for my liking, so I will probably swap it with an EGW model.
