I've been strongly considering doing something similar with a G34 and ctc ir grips.
The unity slides are a bit harder to find for the G34 though. Wish TNVC carried them. |

Needs X400V-IR Zero need for the IR laser. That is the beauty of the RM06/07. Got a few. Meant that the added IR laser on the 400 would make it that much more fun. I shoot pistols with NV all the time, and many times when it actually counts and my ass is on the line. IR laser is much quicker and easier to use under stress than trying to line up the mrds dot and my binos. |

What pistol was it, back in the day, that had a lever and a notch in the slide (sort of like a safety on a 1911 without the gun-don't-go-bang part), that rendered it a single shot or at least kept the slide from being cycled upon firing?
And does such an animal exist, today? |

Vic View Quote It will be there along with the IR capable MP5SD and ST Compressor/CQBL setup. By the way, I've been talking to Telluric about their NVD-2 class. I think doing a NVD-1 followed by a NVD-2 would be a great use of a week. Maybe a CT IR laser wraparound grip would be hot on the Glock as well as the Unity setup. Also, the Walking Dead 2014 3 gun is on again (Nov 1) in Cresson TX and I've already signed up for that, too. Hopefully, we'll see the TNVC crew back out there this year. |

I'd really like to see a modern take on it, but it requires a wipe can to be most effective, and that's a technological dead end due to ATF regs. Not to divert this away from NV but the ATF changed their view on wipes some time ago. They are no longer considered suppressor parts and the end user can make them. You just have to destroy the old ones before making new ones and you cannot make exrtas. Yes, the KAC SNAP ON can is the modern day HUSH Puppy but is no longer made by Knights. It utilized 8 1/8" wipes seperated by two 1/2: spacer/supports. KAC sold the system as a kit with the modified Beretta 92 which had a special barrel mod for the QD mount as seen and the slide lock. The last one I saw for sale had an asking price of $5,000. Used ones have sold for $3,500. Per Trey Knight some time ago they have the parts to make more but Reed has no interest unless someone orders a bunch or has something he is looking to trade for. DeGroat talked about making slide locks but it was back burnered. Others have talked about making a slide lock but no one ever stepped up. There are in fact two modern day 9mm micro cans using wipes. Degroat's NANO and Thompson Machine's Poseidon |

Bladetech WRS was a fit until I told them it was an X300V then they said it wouldn't work. |

I've found that shooting with an RDS is far superior to an IR laser. At least for me. It is the same presentation and weapon control both daylight, low-light, and NVGs.
Here are some videos I took. All testing our ATOM guns. All of these videos were with the awesome TNV/Sentinels mounted on a G24 and Nightcap. Glock 17 with RMR (RM02) and AAC Tirant 9s These are "through eye" shots, so you can see what its like shooting an RDS under NODS. This is a compilation video with some RDS, IR Laser, and some rifle shooting. This is a shortened version of Pat's "Burn it Down" Drill. 25-50-25 And this is a 2x2 reload at 50% speed so you can see the dot. |

Very nice pistol work and solid video. Much appreciated. I don't see where the RDS falls short as long as you can present it to the target in a uniform way. Positional shooting may, of course, be different.
|
|
How well can one shoot a RDS pistol with a monocular over the non-dominant eye? Seems presentation would be significantly more difficult this way.
|
|
|
Based on the video, it looks like my plan to use my new Sentinels for this will work just fine.

Shooting with a PVS-14 is definitely more difficult. I am right handed and left eye dominant (The videos are all from my left eye). So it works out for me. But now that I have a set of sentinels, I don't use my -14 anymore. Of course I still shoot a DBAL on my carbine. |
