I had my local FFL keep an eye for when a Mossberg 930 JM Pro came in stock  Last week a few did and he grabbed 3 of them.  I went to pick one up the other day and brought it home.  Upon inspection, I see usage wear.  I contact him, he contacts rep at Davidsons and rep informs him he sees this sometimes from the factory??  My FFL says no biggie, if I want to return it, he'll give me 100% refund.

So, is this normal?

No sticker or scratches on mine and it was a display model. Looks like someone at the shop took it out to the range.

If it were me, it would look like that after one range trip, so I would go put a couple hundred rounds through it and call it done.

Is it normal?
No.

Would it bother me were I in your shoes?
No.

If it is not otherwise defective/damaged, I would shake it off.  You won't be able to tell those marks from the ones you put on it after a trip to the range or two and 50 rounds.

Davidson's is known to resell returns as new. What they do behind closed doors is undetermined, but I've seen them send new guns out that were obviously used.

Just go shoot it... It is a Mossberg.

Thanks everyone.  I'm not concerned about the cosmetic issues, l was more concerned it was an issue with function.  Maybe someone tried it and found a flaw?  Maybe the factory had a hiccup and decided to try it out before sending it out.  My first 3gun event with it will beat it up more.. so I don't care what it looks like.  Just want to make sure it's functioning properly!

I would keep it but avoid using davidsons anymore.

Yes, was sold as new.  I would of expected him to say the same thing... "few dollars off" or something.  But he did offer return for full refund.

I forgot to mention, when he got them in.. he had 3 to choose from.  He gave me the serial numbers...

AF074402
AF074403
AF074394

So, being a "return" is probably not what this is due to consecutive numbers.  I'm thinking someone at Davidsons or my FFL wanted to "try it out"??

Just got off the phone with Mossberg.. they say everyone of their shotguns is test fired.  The techs are supposed to clean them up, but some get thru without.

So, I'm keeping it and hope to shoot the hell out of it!!  And hope it improves my 3gun game??

Decent move by the dealer

Sometimes it is hard to tell new/used, and there are a lot of schmucks handling guns between the factory and your hands.  While it will probably never affect function, it is your money, and you are paying for new.

If it works I wouldn't worry about it. Like others said, I still wouldn't use davidsons for anything though.

Mine looked way nicer than that when I brought it home.
