Ok looking to buy a great 22 suppressor money is not the goal, doing it right the first time is my only goal.

I think I have it narrowed down to a SilencerCo Sparrow or an AAC Element.

Am I making a good choice? It will need to handle 22 mag.

I've got both Sparrow SS and a TAC-65. The Sparrow is amazing; quiet, small, and easy to clean. The only downside is that it is a little on the heavy side, but that is the price you pay for having a stainless steel suppressor. I HIGHLY recommended that you get one.

Sounds like a good project but I wouldn't do well in prison.

I have both the old aluminum and new stainless Sparrows. When I bought the new one, I really didn't think I'd even notice that extra two ounces. But when I switch back to the aluminum, the difference is clear as day.

Perfectly legal. File a Form 1 instead of a Form 4.

Out of the two? Probably Element.  Not on the list?  Probably Kodiak TL.

I wont buy a Kodiak on the basis that it is clear they stole their designs from Silencerco. The dissassembly method is nearly identical; sans the aluminum sleeve used in the SS. They have similar endcaps...on both ends. They both have the "wavy lines" that mate the endcap with the outer sleeve. Both monocore, etc.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Honestly, you may be right, I don't know.  If so, I won't defend it.  But for the features that I wanted, the Kodiak TL gave me more than the Sparrow.  Not to mention the first round pop was initially reported to be higher on the Sparrow, and sometimess I only want one quiet shot.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

You are right, the Kodiak will have a less noticeable FRP, but then again, that is because the chambers are larger than the Sparrow. You you are trading size/weight for a lower FRP. I am not saying that the Kodiak is not a good suppressor..it is a great suppressor, I just did not like the similarities I noticed between the two.

Liberty has been making silencers longer than Silencerco.  In the silencer business everyone rips off everyone else.  I can write you a book about it. Before you make a silencer purchasing decision based on who ripped who off; post what silencers you are considering...

after recently cleaning my sparrow after only 700 rds I recommend getting a can that was engineered to be taken apart easily.  22 is filthy and i can't imagine not taking one apart to clean it. I think the sparrow has the best design for disassembly.

You really won't go wrong with either one of those cans.

We've shot both of them side-by-side quite a bit and each model has its own pros and cons.  Overall, if you're looking for best-in-class suppression, go with the Element - if you want easier maintenance (with very good performance), go with the Sparrow.

This is an excellent answer.

Ill throw in a vote for the Hearing Protection  CheckMate.

I know its not on your list, but i have had extremely good results with mine, and the new generation cans are even better.

I did know that, but you have an Element in your case, and temporarily no Sparrows:(

+1.  I plan on getting a Sparrow for my ST22 next year, but purchased an Outback II because it felt so much lighter on my Buckmark (I was able to try both before purchasing).  The Outback II is at Gemtech right now getting the IID conversion.

If you can only have one suppressor, I would go with the Sparrow.

Your wrong the kodiak hows been out longer then the sparrow, other then the new end cap design.  Also liberty had the sparrow name before silencerco did on another one of their old .22 silencers.  That being said I own both a sparrow, and the new essence (waiting on transfer) and also a element.  It would be a really hard choice between the sparrow and element to me and would depend on use on which I would pick.

Im considering the same two but i also would like to throw out another for consideration, the Surefire 22-S. I don't know if they are shipping yet but my dealer was pretty impressed with them and said they will be priced in line with the others listed.

I looked into these but I was told these wont be available until spring 2012, + 3-4 months is tooo long to wait.

Hopefully I will have my Sparrow by Christmas

meh.  can't beat the ability to take it apart after 2000-3000 rounds of fire.  Can't do that with the SF or AAC.

Surfire 22s is vaporware. Who knows if they are ever going to be available.
