Well, after going back and forth about which one to get, I made my decision today. I found a 16" FDE Tavor at the local dealer so I wound up going with it and an Aimpoint PRO sight. Crappy weather is moving in again so I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I have had a chance to break it down, clean it up and remove the second sear spring for a better trigger pull. Does this mean I am passing on the AUG? Not hardly. Truth of the matter is that the Tavor was in stock in the configuration I wanted which is why this is my first quality bullpup rifle. Converted an AK with the AKU-94 bullpup conversion kit years ago but that was IMHO, a waste of a perfectly good AK so I try not to include it in my opinions about bullpup rifles. So that's 1 bullpup rifle down, 3 more (AUG, FS-2000 and PS-90) to go!

Congrats. I've been back and forth as well on what to get. I'm going with the Tavor also. No reason really. My first bullpup. Getting it for a 'fun gun'.

These Tavor vs AUG threads are so common, and so hard to resolve.
I have both and even now wouldn't be able to choose between them. The only sane sensible logical reply to all these threads is that Eventually you will need to get both. |

It is all pretty much a matter of which one I come across first. Had it been a green AUG, I would have gone with that or had they had an FS2000, I probably would have went with that first. The PS90 is still last mainly due to the fact that I still have a LARGE stash of 5.56mm ammo but with a PS90, I would be starting from the bottom with the 5.7mm ammo so that one is the last one to worry about getting.

|
I have both an Aug and a Tavor, and even after owning them I can't really say I prefer one over the other. They're both really good bullpups as far as I'm concerned and they're both fun to shoot, so I like having both in the collection. I might even add some other bullpups such as the FS2000 some day.

I love my Tavor and finally owning a bull pup has made me want more :D I really want a PS-90 since they are really neat guns, and im always thinking of rifles i can sell to fund one, but then i always remember the price of the ammo for them and it really turns me off. |

i notice the K&M m17s(i think that's what it's called)is conspicuously missing.
i only bring this up since it's an American company, it's a small company and it has some nice new product possibilities and i'm #81. and the m17 was the first bullpup i ever sighted down. |
|
I have a Tavor with the Aimpoint Pro and a Steyr AUG with the Aimpoint Micro. So far I can't say which is my favorite.
|
|
I have a AUG A1, wt 20" ordinal matching barrel, and a 1 x 7 16" barrel.
I plan on one day getting a Tavor IDF style, but I'll have to save up for it..... Both are good choices...... |

Just an FYI in case someone hasn't mentioned this, FS2000 production for American market has been ceased. All FS2000's you see are possible the last of their kind in the U.S. unless FN resumes making them for our market.

Not sure if i'll ever pick up an FS2000 but I would love a Tavor to go along with my AUG A3

Change barrels? Takes a little bit longer and you need a special wrench instead of just flipping a lever, but Tavor barrels are pretty easy to switch out. Just have to wait for them to be more available from either the manufacturer or aftermarket. |

Pete Athens had a great selection of barrels the last time I checked.

CDNN has had Tavors on special a few times in the last couple months. I've also seen as low as 1700 on Sturm

Not cheap, but neat. I use my AUG as my carry everywhere rifle with a 16" installed, and the 20" in the bag with it. |

I have both, Tavor has become my "go to" gun over the AUG A3 only because of magazine compatibility. I know I could switch to a NATO stock but I would rather have bolt release instead of using charging handle on NATO stock. I think the AUG feels sleeker and more comfortable in my opinion. AUG is a sports care and TAVOR a truck.

Hope yo pick up an UG as I have a PS 90 and Tavor. Been kind of out of the loop on zags as thought there was preban and post an similar eith what the do with other import banned guns. Sounds like there is a 3rd choice but haven't looked into it yet.

Picked up a FDE Tavor for $1800 earlier this week, and the FDE's run about a hundred higher than the black models.

Thanks, that is a new one to me. 2 moa red dot, with co-aligned visible laser (operable with a pressure switch, or with a button on top of the sight). There was also an ISM-IR (which had an IR illuminator, and a restricted laser) Looks "bulky", but it is not heavy at all...and it is rock solid. Made by the same company that makes the PEQ-2, PEQ-15, etc.... (I don't think they are making the ISM sights anymore, though) Here is an old article about it: http://www.gunreports.com/special_reports/accessories/tactical-rifle-Picatinny-Insight-Technology-ISM-V1153-1.html |

So that's 1 bullpup rifle down, 3 more (AUG, FS-2000 and PS-90) to go! To be totally honest, I'm still not really sold on the tactical tuna. While the others like the Tavor and AUG have a potential for becoming "go-to" guns, the PS90 will not likely see use outside of plinking, varmints and a range toy due to it's small caliber while an FS2000 is just too much of a jealous mistress in it's manual of arms to make much of a showing other than a range gun and study in different designs. In addition to the bullpup collection, the SCAR 16, SCAR 17 and ACR have to make their way into the collection as well and having had hands on experience with these rifles, they will probably be added before the FS2000 unless I come across a good deal on one. |
