Just got my AUG A3 back from Pete Athens of PJ'S AUGs a couple weekends ago. I went with the 20" barrel to get the most out of 5.56mm. Pete installed the CQC rail for me. Now all I need it irons, optics, light and sling.

What does ARFCOM think?

So far so good! I really like it and the 20" barrel was a good choice imo.

The rail system really makes the 20in. look right.

Nice, I think Pete's CQC rail looks the best with a 20" barrel.

Nice.

A 2020 HTM hammer pack (if you can find one, or call ratworx everyday for the next 3 years) or 2020 TSM, bipod, NVD, and one of these would make that CQC more fun...

That is a very sexy rifle.  The CQC rail really does look good on a 20in.  Your post may end up costing me some money.

Would an 18" barrel work on the CQC with the standard flash hider, or would you still need the extended flash hider?

As far as I know it'll work just fine.

that's crazy
it's so hard to believe that's a 20" barrel (i thought it would stick out  way further than that) looks more like how i'd imagine an 18" to look

looks good

Looks very nice!  How much does it weigh?  The standard A3 is a bit heavy and adding even more front weight one thing that nixed the CQC conversion for me.

The weight doesn't bother me much, and I like a little weight toward the muzzle to counteract muzzle climb. You put a full magazine in and it balances out. It's noticeable, but I've owned heavier rifles. I'd say it added about 1-2lbs towards the front, but the added flexibility of having the rails for accessories and the longer sight radius for irons is worth the added weight.

And thanks everyone for the compliments. I think it really does make the AUG stand out even more. It gives it a very unique profile.

I'm trying to decide what optic to put on it. I'm thinking either a 1.5x ACOG, Aimpoint M4S, EOTech EXPS-3, or Trijicon SRS. I'm going to put the new Magpul metal iron sights on it and a Surefire M900L weapon light.

Well, the Tijicon SRS is out. Someone I trust about these things informed me they have issues when sunlight enters the front of them. So now I've narrowed down my options to the ACOG and the fixed 4x Elcan Spectre. I don't want to be dependent on batteries for my optics.

I had an M4s on mine, great optic!

I put a Pride Fowler CQLR on mine. Works great because the height over bore is the same as it would be on an AR, so the BDC reticle is still valid. Got hits at 400y with it.

Also have a Magpul handstop kit on the front end. I had an AFG, but I found that that left me nowhere to brace against barricades with.
