What are some of the must have Sig 556 accessories and where do I get them? Take down front pin, hand guards, rear sight, rails, butt-stocks, etc.... Optis come to mind, magazines are handled but  I am going to need more Cow Bell to make it right.

No one here owns a Sig 556 or has bought any accessories for it if they do

551 hand guards are the biggest improvement folks mention when getting these upgraded.

Well... that's kind of a nebulous question... must-have is what ever you want.

That said... my Sig:

Magpul CTR w/ .5 in riser
Samson front sight
Arms #40L rear sight
Vortex hider
KNS front take down pin (not pictured)
Acog TA31F on Larue mount
Larue Tactical sling

Lancer Mag in the pic, though I really like shooting it with 20rd Pmags

I prefer the stock handguard... ugly as sin, but feels right...nice gripping surface.

How is your sling attached?  It looks like its attached to the bayo lug mount.

Nope,

HK-style sling ring on the other side... sling attached with a snap clip.

Then I have a sling swivel on the back plugged into the CTR.

*Magpul UBR/CTR
*Surefire 500 series handguard
*Swiss 551 handguards
*Aurora diopter
*Samson folding FS
*Sig/LPA 556 BUIS
*Swiss bayonet adapter
*Ace folding mechanism
*B&T/Samson/SigSauer quad rail
*Lancer L5 magazines
*A few coupled Sig 556 magazines
*Sig Sauer 556 sling
*Blackhawk SWIFT sling
*Blueforce/Spector/Blackhawk single point sling/mount
*Surefire,VLTOR,A1,Vortex,AAC or 551 replica FH
*Surefire "Scout light"/X series/TLR1 or 2
*Tangodown VFG
*Magpul "enhanced trigger guard"
*Griffen Tactical "modified" charging handle
*Zeiss Z-point
*Aimpoint Micro/M3/M4
*Trijicon Reflex/Accupoint/ACOG
*Leupold Prismatic/Mk2/Mk4
*EoTech 512
*Insight ISM-V

These are a few things that I would suggest looking at for your Sig 556. Some/many of these things I have tried personally.

Currently, I have two Sig 556's an ER and SWAT model. The ER has a Magpul UBR, Surefire 500 series "upper" handguard, 551 lower handguard, Blackhawk "MP5 style" single point, Swiss bayonet lug, Swiss Arms N+ FS and 1913 diopter. This gun has an EoTech 511. Sadly, I have enough $$$ in accessories that I could have easily bought another 556 or two... FWIW, the Swiss Arms diopter is a colossal waste of 300.00+....

The SWAT model has the factory SigSauer quad rail, non-folding CTR assembly, factory "552" emergency sights, Leupold prismatic sight, Tangodown VFG, Surefire X400 and Blackhawk SWIFT sling.

My advice-ditch the abysmal folding mechanism or spend the minimal time/money to renforce it. Even reenforced, it won't ever be an LMT or ACE SD extension...The gun is already "porky" so be careful adding stuff to it. Add the accessories you need, but keep it as simple/light as you can...Seems like an oxymoron, but you can have a "lightweight" gun that has an RDS and weapon light. Leave the factory "emergency" sights alone. They are way more durable than they look. Don't use an EoTech unless you have a quad rail or Griffin charging handle.

Have fun with a great rifle...

Wow great post and thanks for the warning Ryno, that Swiss diop. sight was on my short list! I'm looking at going minimalist, a rail system, vert grip, CTR/MOE stock, a K&S pin, and an Eo-Tech or a Trijicon TA01 for now.

If you are going with the Acog, I'd pass on the rail system.  Give the stock handguards some time... I almost swapped mine out when I first got it as well, but once you get past the ugly, they grow on you fast.  They are tough, not too heavy, and like I said above, they feel really good in my hands.  (I have big hands though.)

Plus, you can still throw a vert grip on them if you are wanting to.

Hello everybody,

I need the Hive's Internet searching ability.  I would like to find the Surefire 520?  Dedicated forend with light.  I cannot find them.  I think they may have been discontinued.  Please help me find one, or something similar.  Thanks

What are it? A dedicated housing/light that originally fit a Swiss Arms 550/551 or 552?

The difference in feel was like night and day when I removed the factory forend and buttstock.  For the better..

I wonder how many sales Sig has lost due to cheezy feel (and looks) of their furniture?

I think the election took care of lost sales in the near term anyhow. But yeah the 551 guards make the rifle. Not much heat resistance but the Swiss seem to have no issue with it.
