Anyone know of any 45 ACP rifles that actually look good and will still look good after I SBR it? I've been looking for one but I can not find one that I actually like the looks of except the UMP 45 which is a little out of my price range. Thanks for the help y'all!

The UMP or an AR based 45 are the two decent options.  You could always go with something like a Thompson or UZI.  The 45 UZI mags are pricey though.

I really hope the new LWRC PDW concept is produced.  It's exactly what I've been looking for.

Edit
That LWRC sbr looks awesome, hope they end up selling them.

The B&T APC is suppose to be coming in 45ACP this year.  Who knows when it hits dealer shelves.

Out of curiosity OP, why 45ACP?  I shoot 45ACP almost exclusively through handguns because I find it the most enjoyable but my PCC's are always 9mm.  The thing I like most about 45ACP in handguns, the recoil impulse, is a moot point with a shoulder fired weapon.  I have always passed on 45ACP in rifles because it seems more expensive with little benefit.

+1 for the Kriss.

I bought as factory SBR. I would have done a form 1 pistol, but my LGS had one in stock.

I have an FNX 45 tactical and ammo so I just thought less calibers to stockpile. Already have the ammo. Plus I'm getting a .45 suppressor. I know I can fire 9 through 45, just the whole less calibers to stock.

That looks fantastic!  Look it's an HK, no it's an AR, no it looks to me like the best of both worlds. The Kriss has never even come close to doing it for me, but if I wanted a tactical 45 SBR that LWRC PDW looks fantastic. (Non tactical would be a Thompson of course).

I would go with Ron Williams or a similar .45 DI. Much nicer than blowback.

when it comes to a semi auto carbine, a .45 makes much more sense...   when its 9mm,  a full auto is really the only way to go.

With a RW .45 upper, what options are there for a mag well block?  I'd like to get a .45 upper for my SBR if it uses
a drop-in mag well block...

Love my Kriss SBR and full-sized CRB. They can be a little finicky when new, but after 2-300 rounds, they're pretty reliable. Also, there's almost no easier SBR conversion - buy the SDP, apply for stamp, wait 30-days, get stamp, remove buttcap (somewhat convoluted, but can be done at the kitchen table with basic tools) and attach folding stock.  But, if that LWRC comes out, it's mine!

I'm going to ask a really stupid question. Couldn't you/we cut down a blowback 9mm or .45 ar15 bcg, and get the weight down to the same as say a 1911 or m&p's slide and use the recoil spring from one of those pistols stuffed into the upper? Similar to this 5.56 pistol I mean. Or am I way off?
Not my image. Extar Exp pistol.

It would be violent with a light bolt/carrier in a blowback action.
Look at the HiPoint pistol, and how beefy the slide has to be.
Blowback .45 carbines have been around forever, but the bolts are chunky.

Is that a 5.56 pistol or a .22 pistol?

Edit: yet another case of should have googled first. That is interesting. With that light of a BCG though I wonder if you could actually make it has operated like the 5.56?  Or do non-magnum pistol rounds just not have enough gas for that?

5.56. Someone made a folding stock adapter for it too. Hit the googles with Extat EXP SBR and click videos.

Man, your stuff is just gorgeous.  I've never chimed in before but hats off to you. Really beautiful work.

For the OP - this is my AR45.  The upper is all stock AR parts except the barrel and bolt so not that expensive / weird. I think it looks good.

That thing is pure sex.  However, it's LWRC.  That means it's gonna cost MORE than a UMP conversion, a lot more.

I guess a DI .45 acp AR has it's finer points but it wouldn't work out well for me at all. I cast all my own bullets and reload, and non-jacketed bullets in a DI AR wouldn't mix well.

This is my 10-1/2" CNC Gunsmithing AR-45 (early gun with a SN less than 10) with an Olympic Arms .45acp upper. It came with an A2 upper so I drilled an A3 upper for the ejector holes as a replacement. It wears a Yankee Hill Machine Specter Length Customizable forend. Since we can't have suppressors in this pathetic state I live in, I used a YHM .45acp flash hider and turned the suppressor threads off of it. YHM backup sights, a Brownell's extended charging handle latch (I prefer them over my old favorite, Badger Ordnance) and a duckbill grip finished it off. Since this pic was taken the optic has been swapped to an Aimpoint PRO.

Reliability has been nothing short of Glock-like. I've tried everything to make it misfeed by loading cast bullets as light as 130gr SWC made for .45acp revolvers, and as heavy as 300gr bullets designed for a .45 Colt revolver. It fed everything I stuffed in the magazine until I tried the 300gr LRNFP .45 Colt bullets. But any .45acp bullet shape or weight and even 250gr .45 Colt LRNFP bullets fed with 100% reliability.

My friend runs both Olympic 9mm and .45acp uppers on his registered M16 lower also with 100% reliability.

Well, I'm going to kick myself later, but after seeing this post I started researching the JRCs.  I ordered on through
Bud's on layaway in .40 since I already have a Glock 22.  This will be cheaper than trying to change my current
SBR to shoot .45.  The only downside is it looks like JCRs are a beast to take apart compared to an AR, so it won't
be quite as packable as my .300BLK.
