It's a very expensive gun cut up and rebuilt with a very expensive kit.
How is the juice worth the squeeze?   School me someone!

What he said.  Except it's WAAAAAY overpriced for a semi-auto SBR carbine.

Technically it's an "HK94/40", and not an MP5/40

prime example of being way too proud of his rifle.  this amounts to someone taking a SKS, putting every SKS CRAPCO parts on it and figuring he increased the value to 1K.

True, but it is the only way you'll get an all german 40cal SBR. I don't really like the idea of cutting up HK94's which are few and far between as it is, but hey, its their money. Cut them up as they see fit. I'd rather them just SBR the 94's and start with new flats for the .40's.

When I looked at buying one a couple years ago I saw one for $5xxx
Decided a clone receiver was worth $2500 in my pocket

Or become a LEO

All honesty though, I would actually prefer the 9mm or even 10mm.....at least in 9mm, cheaper ammo, both factory and reloads, and WAY cheaper/more available mags.

meechee

I have collect Hk weapons for 20+ years now and have had alot of fun doing and met some really nice people along the way.  Searching for and acquiring the parts needed to have a weapon converted into what you want is very rewarding endeavor.

Here is a pic of some of my MP5 collection.  It is a few years old and I have added to it since this pic was taken..

All but one of the weapons are push-pin receivers even the MP5/40 and MP5/10 closest to the camera.

Good thing you are in another state otherwise I would be your best friend and come over EVERY DAY.  LOL!
Very nice collection.

All german gun,  I get it.         Spending that amount,  not so much.

It all comes down to "investment grade" all German guns.
Like with anything else.....to each his own

Before there were mp5/40 clones and flats (like over 5 years ago) this was the only way to get a mp5/40.

Berry, berry expensive. $4000 hk94, $2k parts kit and I'm guessing $1500-2K worth of smithing. One of those "hard to get out what you put in" projects.

It'd be worth it to the right buyer, trouble is finding that person, especially now that the economy sucks. For a shooter a coharie or kit+flat gun is much more economically priced.

"Economically priced",
I like that term even if it is relative.
