Here's the article. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-9-illinois-counties-to-consider-concealed-carry-20121103,0,1785486.story

Hopefully a nine county sweep will send a valuable message to Quinn and Chicago that their hindrance on CCW won't last forever.

"We don't want situations when people can pull out weapons at their local grocery store, sports stadium or shopping mall," said Quinn spokeswoman Brooke Anderson.

Yeah, God forbid someone could legally defend themselves and others when a CRIMINAL pulls out a weapon and opens fire or threatens bodily harm!!!

FIFY.

I still harbor a hope that SCOTUS gives us Constitutional Carry.

The fear of that is why all of the previously anti-RKBA agencies like the IL FOP and IL Chiefs Association came out in support of the FPA, as it allows the state (county, technically) the chance to vet an applicant and refuse them - as well as make some $$ off the process.
Constitutional carry would force them to actually operate under the belief that gun owners <gasp> weren't all criminals who simply hadn't been caught yet.

Constitutional carry will not happen. to many state like flordia, and utah get out of sate ccw permitts $. ConCarry would take $ away from them and as we all no you cant do that.

That's why I referred to SCOTUS, rather than the GA.

As for the results, I guess the hicks are tired of the city folks telling them how to run their lives from their condos on Lake Shore Drive:

The last I had heard Madison would not even pass the second amendment resolution. CC forget about it. I seldom even carry off duty there.

Yes they are worthless in the sense that almost every county in the State passed the Second Amendment resolution. No acknowledgment by the State at all. 19 Counties passed non binding CCW, no acknowledgment from the State.

It serves a purpose in getting the word out. Also gives us a feel about how all of the Counties feel. So it is really not worthless.

I understand and share the sentiment, but there is a dark cloud on the horizon.   Bill Daley,  ex-mayor Daley's brother, has unofficially announced that he will be running against Quinn next election. I see this as Very Bad News.

Don't blame me, I'm just relaying what I heard on WLS friday.

Oh I hope not. I worked at a factory that hired some scummy/ex felon people once and they all liked Daley. Obviously like all Chicago politics, that's they're favorite type of people and the name "Daley" would be a shoe-in. I'm all for it if Chicago separates from the rest of the state.

Not going to happen in Madison or Saint Clair county. I am surprised that it has not come up in Jersey or Green County though.

City cops and Sheriffs in counties with the measure would not be able to arrest for violations. State police could and would though. The whole move is a political stunt aimed at pressing state government to re consider it's stance on the issue. As long as we are ruled by Cook County though that's not going to happen. Even if every other county in the state were to pass these measures.

We passed the CC in Greene County back in 2008.

Now that you mention it I do remember hearing something about that a few years ago. I was thinking they had passed the resolution not to enforce any future state level "Assault Weapon" bans. I know several counties did that a few years ago.

Every County in the State except Cook, Madison, St Clair and two or three others passed the Second Amendment Resolution. The Legislators did not even acknowledge it. I think the map is outdated and some counties have went green, red, and yellow.
