Apparently you make them out of an Oxygen Cylinder, either a 250 cu ft or a 330 cu ft

Not sure if there is a bowling alley that will allow that. But then I may see if that can be used in the bowling pin shoots at the club.

A couple guys in our gun club have built them, they shoot them off at out club picnic every year. They built theirs more like mortars, though. They're really impressive.
They use, I believe, one cup of black powder. Not sure about that or the burn speed, though. The launch them vertically with a slight angle towards the direction they want to ball to go. They aren't very loud when launched, but as the ball flies and rotates, the finger holes make a whistling sound "HOO-HOO, HOO-HOO, HOO-HOO" all the way up and back down. They go about 300 yards downrange and at least that high up. As they fall they whistle coming down too, like bombs in old WWII movies. They hit the the ground with a thud and dirt flies up a bit, you usually find the ball a couple feet in the ground. The balls can be used over and over but sometimes they do break apart on impact. |

I've got a "Beer CANnon" but no bowling ball cannon.
Ammo is much more available for this one.    ETA: forgot the damn picture.  |

I sold a few cases of bowling pins to a local guy who said he is making a bowling pin cannon. i haven't talked to him abt the results but I'm curious if it will spin/rotate and fly straight and what kind of distance it might get. They were using propane as the accelerant.

Did Bean make it ? He makes cannons that shoot everything from golf balls to concrete filled beer cans. He's in Tipton. |

Not sure where it came from but it was made probably over 40 years ago. It'll launch a can of concrete about a 1/4 mile. Probably more but I keep the charge rather anemic just to be safe. |

Really any time you are carrying pressurized gasoline on your back to be propelled by a flammable gas it doesn't take much to make a mistake and die... But a hand held one like in Aliens would be SWEET... rougly a half second burn time but WTH? |

My hunters ed instructor in northern NY had a mortar that shot soup cans filled with concrete. I have wanted one ever since!!!
