I was wrong. I stated these were LMT, but LWRC makes them. Just because I love you (and Bradd too
) I went to the trouble to take some pics that I hope help.
From left to right are "ladders", the LWRC "snakeskin", the KAC, the older DD (some other companies make ones like this still), and the TangoDown (although this is one cut out for a SureFire tape switch).
You can see the bottoms here. The LWRC have a small locking tab that snaps down inside any rail slot. The KAC ones have a tab that must lock into a special slot with a relief cut. The KAC panels won't snap into just any rail slot and that is a big downside to KAC panels for me. The older DD style has alignment ribs that sit down inside any slot. The TangoDown have a small tab that you lift up with a finger. The tab will settle into any slot on the rail. Ladders and DD are rubber-like.
For those that don't know, this is the relief cut I mentioned for KAC panels. See the relief cut into the first slot (the one with the sling adapter)? This sucks because you cannot put a KAC panel on this rail (which is a KAC URX) and have the tab snap into the slot just behind the sling adapter.
You can see it better in this picture. The first slot (B17) but a KAC rail tab will NOT lock into the next slot over.
Here we have (from 12 o'clock around clockwise) KAC, TangoDown, older DD and the LWRC.
LWRC next to a rail ladder.
KAC next to the TD and the LWRC and ladder under them.
The LWRC locking tab in the unlocked position:
LWRC sure is slim.
The LWRC panels are hard plastic kinda like the KAC though feels more plastic than KAC.
Does this help at all? Sorry for the crappy pics. Best I could do in minimal time.
