DIY ACH High Cut Mod. Would not do again--it was time consuming, yet annoyingly enjoyable. The only upside is cost overall invested, and being able to set it up with exactly what components I wanted.

Just need to add canteens and step off for a couple days in the heat.

What do the black SRBs on the pouch lids do for you?

I modified the straps on a hydration carrier for that setup. I clip the carrier in top/bottom on the harness to keep it stable without having more shoulder straps. For patrolling with no ruck/pack.

Range time with the Spear yesterday; decided to rock the Tigers.  I like the look of Tigerstripe and FDE for whatever reason.

Anyone have an upgrade for the SOE micro chest rig harness?   I currently have the x harness.  I want something with a bit more of a yoke on it.

They use the 1.5 clips that are way bigger than most companies.

I just clean with an alcohol prep pad after each range trip.

After years of being skeptical of high cut helmets, I finally decided to pick one up. This guy was delivered on Thursday:

Team Wendy "Epic Specialist".  Huge improvement over my old ACH.  Lighter, more comfortable and adjustable, and certainly works better with electronic ear pro.  Now to figure out what covers fit it, and how to afford the accessories it "needs".

When it wasn't misfeeding and tearing up ammo, flat range LARPing with the Spear was pretty fun.

Took a carbine class this past weekend with Rainier Firearms Academy.  Probably overdressed, but if nothing else, I got the lovely experience of trying to contort my body into various alternative firing positions while wearing armor.

Are those actual CRYE's? And what are the Tigers you are rocking in your other post?

No, both are Chinese knock offs.  I call 'em my Chi-Cryes.  I have some actual Crye stuff in MC and MC Tropic, but don't feel like dropping the coin needed for their Woodland or Tiger stuff.  Overall, the knock offs aren't bad.  The Woodland set is Emerson gear, and the Tigers are Helikon-Tex for the top, Krydex for the pants.  I'd say the Emerson Gear stuff is better than Krydex or Helikon-Tex, but it's a minor difference.

Yeah I have some Multicam Crye's and that's all I will ever have. I have looked at the Helicons. Thanks for the reply

For sure. For context it's my current gear to spend a couple weeks chasing artillery in the field. My stuff has been changing consistently over the years trying different things and finding what I like and don't like.

Vest- Gear Dynamics Split Patrolling Rig, Crye mag pouches, HSGI IFAK, issued gas bag and mask, Carcajou Tac sustainment pouch (L & R) with Sorde dump pouch, Eagle TQ pouches, Carcajou Thermacell pouch and cells, Firstspear Nalgene pouch, HGG admin panel and Crye GP.

Helmet- nothing fancy, issued CM735 (but with Skydex pads, sssshh secret)

Mystery Ranch SATL- holds a bunch of shit like cook set, rain gear, solo tent, water, ablution kit, and a day or so of food

Issued ruck- big dry bag with extra combats, a ton of socks and underwears, spare boots or NEOS, sleeping gear, and space to add more mission gear. On the outside are a Thermarest pad, and Mystery Ranch ripzip pouches with a British MTP basha and issued bivvy bag, so in a pinch I'm not stuffing wet camp stuff into my dry bag stuff.

I'm still looking out for an AOR2 pack smaller than the SATL to fit in vehicles with me and still carry shit like a large clipboard and a Jetboil. The essentials
