And a large collection of other militaria including assault rifles.
Defence lawyer claims most of the collection is scrap metal. Offers a €50k fine plea deal ( about $70k ) Prosecution asserts that much contravenes their war weapons legislation. A museum has offered to buy the tank. Attached File https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57965260 For those unfamiliar with the Panther tank - its the one that was superior to the Sherman Now sentenced......... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-58077039 |

I love how they're gonna convict him in his mid 80s.
Yeah, ok. Throw away the key? |
|
EDIT: Nevermind, same tank, just still ongoing legal case. |
|
People looking for stolen nazi loot ratted him out. The poor guy is 84. How is he going to pay that huge fine.

Quoted: Didn't this happen a while back also? Might have been in France or something. IIRC, the government destroyed the tank. View Quote They fucked it up when moving it because it didn't have treads on. It was towed to some base and used as decoration for a while. After that, I don't know what happened. |

Years ago I read of a French guy who went around "tidying up abandoned kit" in 1945 and years later they found immaculate jeeps and lots of weapons in his barn. |

Quoted: Everybody has to have a hobby!! View Quote He got tired of those 1:16 scale models so scrapped together a 1:1 scale model. I don't see the issue here. I guess there could be a problem if he had several hundred rounds of cannon ammo for it, but just small arms ammo and a dressed up winter emergency transport? No problems. |

He has now been sentenced. Big fine. Suspended jail sentence. Given 2 years to sell items to collectors ( which should easily pay fine ) https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-58077039 |

Herr might decide "Challenge Accepted". |

Nice collection.
A life well lived. Hope he’s willing to let it all go and chortle a little about how long he played with his toys. |

" In July 2015, it took about 20 soldiers almost nine hours to extract the Panther tank - which was without its tracks - from the residential property and push it onto a low-loader for transportation. "
Well, good thing they intercepted this madman before he went on a rampage, after he found 20 helpers and spent nine hours getting his implement of doom disinterred from it's crypt. |
|
'Neighbors reported he used the tank as a snow plow one winter"

The video says the guy's a millionaire. He won't have any trouble paying the fine. I'm more curious as to exactly how he got a torpedo into his basement...
