Quoted: NO, no,no,no on Steve Zahn as Al Giordano. Ruins the whole movie. If you have read any of the Dirk Pitt books Zahn looks nothing like the description of Al. While he will throw out the occasional one-liner he was in no way the buffoon that Zahn played him. McConaughey did make an excellent Dirk Pitt though. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Sahara with Matthew McConaughey Very enjoyable movie. One I have a hard time not stopping and watching if it comes on. It was well cast. Steve Zahn as Giordano was a great choice. NO, no,no,no on Steve Zahn as Al Giordano. Ruins the whole movie. McConaughey did make an excellent Dirk Pitt though. I didn’t read the book so any difference didn’t matter to me. The banter between Zahn’s character and Dirk was one of the best characteristics of the movie. I thought Sahara would make a good start to a new series of movies, in the realm of the Indiana Jones movies. |

The Wendell Baker Story
2005 movie with Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Eva Mendes, Eddie Griffin, Kris Kristofferson, and some other big names. I think that movie is great, and I don't know if I've ever met anyone who had seen it or heard of it. Can't recommend watching the trailer as I feel it gives away too much, but... The Wendell Baker Story Official Trailer! |

Also:
King Arthur (2004) with Clive Owen. I think that's a pretty good movie but again, hardly know anyone who has ever seen it. Inside Man with Denzel. Taking of Pelham 123 (also Denzel). |

I always thought ‘Reign of Fire’ was better than given credit for. Bale was outstanding.
Good mythos development, but it’s definitely takes the ‘willing suspense of disbelief.’ And ‘Spanglish’ with Adam Sandler. He actually acts, and it’s a nice story. |

I saw The Northman on Amazon over the weekend. It’s based on the inspiration for Hamlet and reminded me a lot of Gladiator.
The critical reviews were positive, but so few people saw it in the theaters that it was considered a flop. |

Quoted: Same. Another good one I'd put in my top ten for that decade that I feel is underrated and not as well known as it should be is The Fountain (2006). Quite possibly Hugh Jackman's best performance. View Quote Never heard of it, but I'll check it out. I figure if we're on the same page with Collateral, and I know we have the same taste in Stargate, fair chance I'll like this one too. |

Do you guys understand that sometimes movies are underrated because they deserve to be underrated?

Way of the Gun was already mentioned, that movie is outstanding. View Quote "Dumb"??? It was fucking stunning!!! It was like touching a live wire, it was so fucking intense. And the end, Johnson showed incredible acting chops. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I held my breath waiting to see what he would do. Yeah, so far, this is the only truly underrated movie mentioned that wasn't absolute shit or not underrated in the first place, Snatch??? LS&TSB??? UNDERRATED??? Are you fucking kidding me??? |

Quoted: I think Collateral was one of the best movies of that decade. View Quote No, you're wrong. Collateral was chosen by the National Board of Review as ONE of the top ten films of 2004, not THE top film of 2004. And only 99.9% of film critics gave it their top rating, not 100%! Plus, it only made $221 MILLION not $ALL THE MONEY and it was only nominated for TWO Academy Awards, not ALL of them. |
