Quoted: You seeing a very lightly blueish tinged white? That's usually what I see. Sometimes real white and gold. Rarely black and a more medium blue. Has anyone ever explained this phenomenon? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Everyone is all like "it's white and gold" or "no, dummy, it's blue and black" and I'm the only one here saying "looks like blue and gold to me." You seeing a very lightly blueish tinged white? That's usually what I see. Sometimes real white and gold. Rarely black and a more medium blue. Has anyone ever explained this phenomenon? "very lightly blueish tinged white" is a good way ti describe it, yes. Or maybe just a light blue. A where it might be white but just in just awkward lighting, kind of thing. But, comparing it to the bright white of the background wall, very bluish. |

Quoted: See the thing is when you open a photo in editing software you can sample a color and see where it is on the color wheel. So one person is right and one person is wrong. The dress is blue and black. View Quote Interestingly enough, that's the first thing I did, and I assume you didn't. Attached File The results are consistent with a back-lit white and gold dress. |

People that saw white and gold need medical help.

View Quote When I see the picture on a phone or a screen in that video, it's definitely black and blue. It's all about context. For example, what color is the moon? Viewed at night the moon looks bright white, but in reality it is very dark grey to black like charcoal. |

What color is the jacket thing she's wearing? After I read the explanation of why I was seeing it as white and gold, it's still took me 10 minutes and lots of squinting and moving my phone around to be able to see the dress as black and blue. The picture is overexposed and truly looks more white and gold but a lot of people still see blue and black. Here's a good explanation of why that is. https://www.rit.edu/news/color-scientists-explain-dress-went-viral |

Automatic color balance, how does it work
Badly sometimes, especially when you have some things in sun and other things in shade in the same photo. |

Quoted: I always thought strangling meant that the person died. Choking seems more appropriate since the dick head lacked the grip strength or conviction to finish. View Quote It’s like shocked vs electrocuted. People say electrocuted all the time but that word actually means shocked to death. Somebody has to die for their to be an electrocution |

The Guardian reports that Keir Johnston, 38, pleaded guilty on Thursday to attacking his wife, Grace Johnston, in their home on Scotland’s Isle of Colonsay on March 6, 2022. After Grace defied her husband’s request not to attend a job interview on the mainland he is said to have texted her saying, “Someone is going to die.” When she returned home her husband told her he was leaving her with prosecutor Chris Macintosh telling a court that Keir Johnston grabbed his wife and threw her to the ground. “He placed both knees on her arms, so she was unable to move. He then began strangling her with both his hands. She was initially able to scream and feared for her life and believed Johnston intended to kill her as he was very forceful.” His lawyer, Marco Guarino, said Johnston had accepted responsibility for the assault. The couple became famous when Grace’s mother, Cecilia Bleasdale, purchased a dress for their wedding in 2015 but they disagreed over whether it was blue and black or white and gold. It sparked global debate with people split on the true colors of the dress. Johnston will be sentenced on June 6. https://www.thedailybeast.com/keir-johnston-the-man-behind-dress-that-broke-the-internet-admits-strangling-wife-grace-johnston View Quote Even after watching the videos it's white and gold to me. Quoted: Now I have to go read up on why it looks different to different people. Maybe it’s something about different video displays. View Quote The photo as presented is blue and a dark neutral color. If you look at the photo, the dress is in shade. There is also a bright and much different color light in the background which looks like direct sun. Direct sun is a much more "yellow" color balance than shade, which is much more "blue". If you put a white and gold dress in a shaded location with sun in the background, almost any camera's automatic white balance will key off the bright sunlight and everything in shade will appear blue. The reason for the discontinuity is that your brain is trying to do automatic white balance of its own to try to analyze the photo. It could actually be a blue dress. Or it could be white which appears blue due to the camera's shift in color balance. There's no way to be 100% sure without additional information. |
