Went to the range today brought my benelli m4 and ruger mk ii competition target. I really don't know why but the last 4 or 5 times I went out shooting my 22lr pistol just seems like no fun to shoot anymore. I just feel like I'm shooting a pellet gun or bb gun I really cant explain it but I feel like I should get rid of my 22's and my 22 ammo supply (my dad would love me to give him my 22 stash )
Does anyone else feel this way? Maybe it's a faze? Can someone elaborate if they have ever felt this way? Thanks (p.s. been thinking of getting a fn five seven or ps90 to replace my 22's. They can hunt the same game but the 5.7 round has a big muzzle flash and seems like it would excite me as a shooter more.) |

You're the only one, and in my opinion you should be quarantined before your weird ideas infect someone else.
|

I think you're the only one that feels that way.

.22 is no longer fun to shoot for me because it costs what .223 should.
|
|
I never really enjoyed shooting .22 and do not currently own one. I'm right there with you.
|
|
Even with .22 being in such short supply around here, my .22's are still my favorites to shoot.
|
|
I love shooting .22, but since the prices went full retard, I no longer get to shoot like I used to. I used to go through 500-1000 rounds every weekend.... Not anymore

I havent shot my 10/22 since I built my ar. The gf didnt even bring her 10/22 to the range last sunday. I know what you mean. It will come back. Start shooting some other stuff and put the 22s in the corner of the safe for a while. You will be glad you have them someday.

I'm thinking about asking Santa for a .17HMR for Christmas. My arthritis is getting to the point that center fires make my shoulder hurt the couple of days after.

I love 22. I like to shoot it as far as I can and it is fun with a can.

Boy I love shooting .22LR. It's scarcity is a pain in the rump, though. I have plenty but it nags at the back of my head whenever I shoot it that I can't replenish it easily and the total on-hand drops.

When I go shooting I always take something with some thunder; mosin T53 or PTR 91 PDW or something else that demands attention. Once I abuse everyone's ears and my shoulder I settle in with something lighter and enjoy myself.
Try mixing it up. |

No I like it a lot.
But I have nice .22's, not airsoft guns that shoot .22LR |

I'll play... Honestly, shooting 22 is fun and all but I'm not sure the 30 seconds it takes to load magazines outweighs the 7 seconds it takes to burn through them. Probably will liquidate my 22 supply and guns here soon

My ARs are my favorite to shoot. I'll shoot my .22's every once and a while just because I have ammo for it.
|
|
It used to be fun when 550rds was 8.97...9.97...12.97...14.97 and even 18.97. Now its just stupid, you gotta stalk walmart or pay out the yang for it.

I really enjoy shooting my .22s.
I shoot them a thousand to one over anything else I own. But, enjoy shooting whatever you enjoy shooting. Years ago I went through a phase where I wanted heavy recoil and loud booms. I got over it but that's just me. |
|
I had a blast shooting some .22 shorts out of an old single shot bolt gun with irons this weekend....
but I don't shoot 22 near as much as I used to - even with ammo being more available |
|
I went out one afternoon this summer with 200 rounds of .22 and my Henry pump.
Took my time with every shot, spent a couple hours before it was all gone, and had a great time. Spend your life in rapid fire, and before you know it, it's all over......... |
|
Just put them in the back of the safe for a while. Shoot other guns and do other things.
Let a few months go by and pull them back out, if they still don't do anything for you then find them a good home. Shot my buckmark and walther p22 today, my 1022 yesterday, taking out a speedmaster and nylon 66 tomorrow. I love my 22's |
|
my last 2 guns I bought were .22's. A Henry and a Marlin Model 60
A few months ago I was at my club shooting them and another member started yelling at me to stop wasting my .22LR. I just smiled and said I had plenty. |

I love shooting .22LRs, but I don't enjoy it now, since if I shoot up a box of ammo I have no idea when I'll come into some again.

I owned a walther P22 for like a week. First and last .22 ever. It's like a cap gun, I never saw the point.

I have a Gemtech Outback II suppressor, with an SBR'd GSG5 and an M&P22 (the fullsize pistol, not the 15-22 AR variant), and a CMMG 22LR kit.
I haven't used any of them in over 8 months. I'd rather just pay a bit more to shoot 9mm or .223 (I reload, so those cost me 2 and 3 times what 22LR does, respectively). |

Since I received a Ruger MKlll Hunter from my wife last Father's Day I've been shooting it at least twice a week and loving it. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b554/americafirst46/Mobile%20Uploads/14c23c50-3dfa-4b3f-9ad5-a5cacdcaf6c9_zps4afbc02d.jpg View Quote I love my Hunter- got it for a birthday a couple years ago. I haven't shot any 22 in the few years since the retardation.
It's obviously not a full power shot, but plinking all day just because is fun. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I totally agree. Shooting a .22 bores me out of my mind. It has been years since I have shot my 22s. In fact, I recently sold 5000 rounds of 22lr because I never shoot it and don't really intend to anytime in the near future.

I started a similar thread years ago saying the same thing. To me, its the kids caliber I outgrew just like BB guns. For years I didn't own anything in .22. I just started to change that in preparation for my 2 Yo son starting to shoot.

View Quote I share a similar sentiment, but it is partly because of the shortage of .22LR caused by resellers, and the fact that .223/5.56 is far more exciting to shoot for a variety of reasons. Plus, .223/5.56 is obviously reloadable. I sold my .22LR firearm, so I make sport of what I currently own anyways. I am done with .22LR. Resellers and hoarders ruined the cartridge. My son will appreciate .223 for the same reasons I do. |
