In my experience, the Infidels were not good. My four buddies and I got them, and (IIRC) three of them shredded inside and had to go back. Pure crap - at least the first generation of them was.
As far as that paper test, it doesn't prove anything. The first blade had a tanto profile. So, after the first 1/2 inch or so, the blade is straight and it just glides through the paper after being cut to that profile. The infidel had a tapered, double-edge profile. That means that the blade constantly had to cut more and more paper, which slowed it down and stopped it.
The real test of an OTF, and I've had several, is a consistent lockup with little to no play, and a consistent close. Microtech OTFs have a very refined mechanism and are top notch.
