A new rumor has suggested that the upcoming series of Star Wars films by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will take place during the Old Republic era. View Quote Via Comicbook.com, Star Wars News Net has reported that one of its sources, a contact who "has worked on every Disney Star Wars film," is "95% confident" that this new series will in fact take place in the Old Republic, which has been featured in such games as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Old Republic is such a long era, they don't need to pull something from any of the games. Pick a period in between and make something new for us.
I'm not saying something revolving around Revan would be bad, just that it will inevitably not live up to the story we enjoyed from the games, because they will have to make it different and then we'll all be pissed off. |

Sorry but Star Wars died the day Lucas sold it to Disney.
Disney's Old Republic will be something vastly different from KOTR and other series. |

I loved SW. Grew up on it as a kid. Had a zillion toys. Was so excited to see it on the big screen again. Rogue One was awesome.
Then they went full Disney. Never go full Disney I don’t care if I ever see another movie. |

I guess they'll make Revan a queer, or have him transition into being a woman.
Hooray social justice. |

I know nothing of the Old Republic storylines but want more, quality SW stories to enjoy, so I hope they do it up right.
The milieu Lucas created is endless; get good storytellers and make us great content. Preferably with all new characters. Much as I love the Skywalker storyline, lets move past them and no more death stars please. |

It's a no brainer, the only direction you could go for new Star Wars stories is waaay back seeing as the sequel trilogy sucks donkey dick. A millennia or two before the Skywalker saga, thousands of Sith and Jedi warring against each other, Sith Empire, Darth Malak, Revan, Bane, Nihilus, Mandalorian Wars, etc.
So many endless dark and interesting story lines to draw from, truly bound by nothing but the imagination and the artistic integrity to get it on screen. Which we know Disney does not have. Still, I'm hopeful. At least Ruin "roundhead" Johnson is not at the helm. He and Krazy KK can run his trilogy into the ground when no one shows up to see it. |

Though I've waited for an OR movie or show for a while, I'm sure Disney will ruin this timeline just as they have the Skywalker saga. I would still like KOTOR 3 though.

Still waiting on a movie about a stormtrooper, from basic training to him getting stationed on some backwater asshole of the galaxy planet. No Luke Skywalker, no fucking jedi. Just killing rebel scum.

If D&D are the showrunners there's bound to be gay sex and Girl Power.
Maybe together in the same scene? |

Depends.
If Disney actually makes original films, ala KOTOR-style Old Republic era, or they were anything like The Old Republic game trailers, i.e. with armies if Sith and Jedi waging war, and they were just a tiny bit grittier than the usual Disney bs (like Rogue One)... It's literally a license to print money. OTOH, if they Disney this shit up, with Ewoks, Jedi Princesses, extra love beating the forces of evil in war...yeah. Ummmmm....not so much. They would still essentially be printing money, they just won't see any of mine. And since they make money either way, I'm betting on #2. Like the last few films have all been #2, and by that I mean shit. |

Can I hope for a TV-MA Star Wars series HBO-esque level of sex and violence?

|
With Dumb and Dumber from Game of Thrones in charge, it's sure to be an sjw shitfest

Hard to get excited about anything Star Wars anymore. Sorry.
Not sorry. |

It's the best star wars, at least up until the point EA got involved. You could probably have a blast playing through SWTOR in story mode now though. |

I have always been a lurker but will pipe up and post in this thread...
STAR WARS IS DEAD LIKE TOTALLY DEAD. CURSE TFA, TLJ... and whatever garbage may come. Let them drown in the green crap they made Luke milk from that CGI abomination. DISNEY: "If you liked your childhood Star Wars you can keep your childhood Star Wars" DISNEY: "Kill Han Solo. Kill Luke, and oh yeah denigrate and neuter him before you kill him for good measure." STAR WARS IS DEAD |

They aren't going to do them right, so screw them. If you're into the Old Republic, check out Revan. The audiobook might be on hook tube

Honestly it could have been a great idea, but the myth has been destroyed by Disney and I’m just not interested in being disappointed and actively insulted anymore.
