Hug your furballs, everyone.

This is Bella. We got her from a rescue org in 2009, when she was 3 months old.

She had some tummy trouble after we got her - diarrhea and room-clearing farts, but a grain-free diet cleared that up.

She was the sweetest kitty - absolutely gentle with babies and toddlers. She was my daughter’s first best friend. Attachment Attached File

She even grew to accept the newest family member - a 75lb golden retriever.

We came home the other day to find her lounging on the bottom step of the staircase, near the door to the garage. She always comes to greet us at the door. Except that she couldn’t get up.

She started twitching on our way to the vet office, where the doc told us that although she was breathing, she didn’t show signs of other brain function.

We went from thinking that she was going to be ok, to having to put her down, all in an hour or so.

The kids were devastated. We said our tearful goodbyes, and I thanked her for all these years of being the best kitty a family could have.

For being gentle enough to be picked up by the kids when they were toddlers.

For letting them dress her up as BatCat.

For catching and eating all the bugs that came into the house.

For keeping my daughter warm while she read on the couch.

For napping with me while I napped the kids.

Things just won’t be the same without her.

This shows the differences in their personalities. I gave them a "psp, psp" to get them to look at me and Spaz glared while Smudge posed.
