Asa Akira always knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. “I was obsessed with it,” Akira, now 28, recalls thinking when she was in middle school. “The girls were just really glamorous. They were having sex for money. I thought, ‘What’s better than that?’ ” Akira has since appeared in more than 300 adult movies (the names of which are too filthy to reproduce here). She’s one of the richest porn stars in America, with a reported net worth of over $1.5 million. And in her new memoir, “Insatiable,” she’s unabashed about the love she has for the industry that has made her dreams a reality. It has “shaped me into a woman I had always hoped I would be. I’ve become more confident, more empowered, more sure of myself than I’ve ever been,” she writes. “There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing.” Akira (a stage name) says her life story doesn’t fit most porn-star stereotypes. She had a “perfectly normal” childhood, with a doting stay-at-home mother and parents who have stayed together for 30 years. She was educated at the private United Nations International School in Manhattan. Then she landed an internship at the high-fashion magazine V. I thought the big names were paid a lot better than that? Hell some of these "celebrities" are making low to mid six figures just for one shaky-cam sex tape. |

There was an article I saw a few months ago talking about porn star pay.
It was pathetic, I actually expected them to make much more. They were saying men would show up for $50-$100 for a scene. Women were paid more, of course. Something like $500 per scene (regular, not soo nasty stuff). The nasty, cum guzzling, ATM whores, were getting the $1000-$1500 per scene pay. I actually thought it wasn't a bad deal for guys, hell, I'd probably do it for free

She's number 9 on the list of richest female porn stars according to the Google. No surprise the rank and file girls have no real net worth. Between COL out there and "extracurricular activities", I doubt many have anything left over to invest in their 401K. The ones with real money probably made it from opening their own studios and merchandising, not slogging it out in the trenches for 20 years working overtime. |

1.5M at 28 is a great nest egg. Several times more than I have at over a decade older.
It's not enough to retire at that age unless she wanted to live on 3% of it annually and hope her investments did really well. Maybe she could transition into legitimate acting or a different field because realistically, nobody expects Academy Award level or even Junior High theater club quality drama from pron. It also tends to favor younger performers. She could live modestly with a second career and just let that money double every 7 years.
