This sums it up.
"Such a protest can only help the participants feel good about themselves. It is at best a way of saying “not in my name”, and cannot conceivably do anything to curb Trump or ensure his electoral defeat next time around. Let’s face it: art and serious culture are completely marginal to American life. Trump’s victory proves that. Closing museums is not likely to have any impact on those who support him. With all due respect, they might be affected a lot more if reality television shows went on strike." |

Their own misguided perception of their value is why their side lost.

View Quote Well, then maybe art and serious culture shouldn't have decided that hundreds of years of the development was art was crap that needed to be thrown away and instead we should all think that a urinal in a gallery is amazing. The same could be said of 20th century architecture. Poorly made crap that takes itself seriously but in the end was really designed to be pissed on. |

Joke's on you bitches. Already got my Pape on velvet ordered.

Guess they'll all be returning all those Arts & Humanities grants. Trump's already balancing the budget!

I'll somehow try to survive while the left wing, progressive artists are on strike. It will be tough, but I think if I really try I can make it.

I don't agree with his position on Art and I know it was a snarky poke at "all us undereducated redneck trump supporters". Several of his statements have merit though. When 20% of your household income is spent on health insurance, there isn't much money left over for art.
And art never bought me a sandwich for lunch. |

Art galleries can burn to the ground as far as I care though. |

OK - Trump can have congress cut all funding to the National Endowment for the Arts, if they are going on strike.
If they start getting hungry, maybe they can do some paintings or sculptures of people being vivisected. The Podestas will buy that. |
