This sums it up.

"Such a protest can only help the participants feel good about themselves. It is at best a way of saying “not in my name”, and cannot conceivably do anything to curb Trump or ensure his electoral defeat next time around. Let’s face it: art and serious culture are completely marginal to American life. Trump’s victory proves that. Closing museums is not likely to have any impact on those who support him. With all due respect, they might be affected a lot more if reality television shows went on strike."

Well, then maybe art and serious culture shouldn't have decided that hundreds of years of the development was art was crap that needed to be thrown away and instead we should all think that a urinal in a gallery is amazing.

The same could be said of 20th century architecture. Poorly made crap that takes itself seriously but in the end was really designed to be pissed on.

I'll somehow try to survive while the left wing, progressive artists are on strike.  It will be tough, but I think if I really try I can make it.

I don't agree with his position on Art and I know it was a snarky poke at "all us undereducated redneck trump supporters". Several of his statements have merit though.

When 20% of your household income is spent on health insurance, there isn't much money left over for art.

And art never bought me a sandwich for lunch.

Gotta love the snitty elites.

I personally love museums.

Art galleries can burn to the ground as far as I care though.

Opulence, he haz it.

LOL at article.  It's like they were trying to come up with the smallest effect protest to marginalize themselves.  They'll discover their value to the real world when no one cares.  Not saying there isn't a place for art, but it's hardly essential.

OK - Trump can have congress cut all funding to the National Endowment for the Arts, if they are going on strike.

If they start getting hungry, maybe they can do some paintings or sculptures of people being vivisected.  The Podestas will buy that.

Exactly. Any "art" that isn't purity shit hasn't been created in a really long time.

If they all quit we can just put an end to the NEA and make it a double win.

Eta: beat by seconds. Great minds think alike I guess.
