The Maryland woman who went missing in Hawaii on May 8 while out jogging on a hiking trail has been found alive.

A Facebook page dedicated to finding 35-year-old Amanda Eller said in a post that she was discovered deep in a creek bed between two waterfalls. She was slightly injured and is being evacuated, the post added.

Hawaii News reported that she was spotted in by a helicopter Friday afternoon.

Weird, how was she stuck?

Maui ain't that big, should be able to walk out anywhere and hit a road pretty fast.

Is it that hard to get lost on an island?

This.  That island is so small an hour walk in any direction will yield you a road.

All she had to do was what we were taught at an early age:  If you get lost in the woods, follow any watercourse downstream.  Sooner or later there will be some civilization.

And yes, I know what Hawaiian brush can be like.

I wonder if she tried to walk through a creek and her leg got stuck in the mud?

I know this girl. Our group of friends have been praying hard for her safe return. Thank God they found her.

For those of you mouth-breathers that have obviously never been off the beaten path in Maui, there are tons of places that if you fell, you would not be climbing out on your own. Especially if you were injured.

Even though it is a small island it is still over 700 square miles. There aren't many interior roads on the SE part of the island. No idea where she was or the extent of her injuries, if she broke a leg or ankle she would likely walk in circles. More details are needed to fill in the blanks on this story.

Article said she was "slightly injured". I read that as a bruise or a scraped knee, something minor.

I've been off the beaten path in Maui, which is why I'm skeptical. I don't think being skeptical of these types of stories make anyone a mouth-breather though. And I'm assuming by that you are calling anyone who questions the events as being stupid?

Well it looks like she somehow survived the freezing temperatures, dangerous snakes, vicious mammalian predators, and lack of sources for drinking water.

People underestimate Hawaii all the time, then they die.

The water is warm, no harm could come.

The island is small, no way to get lost.

And btw, not everyone is friendly, so there is that too.

I'm very glad she is OK.

Considering the first thing they teach people to do when lost is to stay put and wait for help, it's plausible.
