I really should pick up a version translated from the vulgate.  Douay-Rhiems is a possible candidate for that, IIRC.

One recent (before the corona thing became a thing) Sunday morning, while en route to the drag strip with a couple of friends,  my hardcore Christian friend took umbrage with my statement that I think the bible is man's interpretation of the word of God and that translation can have an effect.  He was very adamant that he believes that the bible is the literal word of God.  Because he is my friend I couldn't make myself ask him that if it's literally the word of God,  which version was correct.

I've been using the Christian Standard Bible since it was released a few years back.  Before that it was the NIV.

Though most of my reading now is audiobook/commentary. I'll listen to a book of the Bible first and then I listen to the commentary.

It is funny to me, the commentary I listen too is 3x as long as the actual books of the Bible.

I’ve got King James, NIV, living bible, got a catholic bible that was my grandparents, New American Bible or something like that. The version I have used the most for reading and studying for about the last 20 years is the New American Standard.

Holman or New American Standard Bibles are mainly what I study now. I have found also that the King James version can give great spiritual perspective also. I have studied the word of God for almost fifty years and can find no fault with it.
Almost anything word is alright with me, in a place where the Spirit of God can be found and appreciated for His great saving knowledge, grace, and marvelous insight and wisdom. There is no greater sense of completeness while, "In Him."

Christian Standard Bible, which is basically HCSBv3.

The ESV Old Testament is awesome. But the phrasing in the New Testament leaves much to be desired.

Grew up with the King James. Got one from my grandmother when I was a kid. Still use it. Got a NIV from the church when I graduated high school. Still in the box.

King James. The only one not copyrighted and linked to the Strongs Concordance.
Ask yourself, why would the Bible be copyrighted? Who did the translation? What did they translate from?
Most newer versions come from two corrupted copies.

I've read the Great Bible, Geneva Bible, and King James Bibles. Not because I'm in the least bit religious, but because I'm a serious amateur student of both Tudor-Stuart England and English Renaissance Theater and the Bible shows up a lot in that.

I don’t read it though.

I used to have it on my phone, but the notifications bothered me so much I erased it.  Could not seem to turn them off.

It was nice because any verse I found interesting (reading the KJV) could be changed to several different versions to see If the meanings were different.

Does anyone have suggestions for a good Bible app?

Same here.  With a heaping helping of "forgive us our trespasses" from the BCP/Tyndale thrown in.

NASB   One thing for sure, one second after death your decision to believe or not to believe will be etched in stone for all eternity. I am sure a lot of people will wish they could go back and change their decisions. GOD has been so good to me and my family.

You do know that there was a political reason that the KJV was written don't you?  Since we now have a much greater understanding of the Greek used in the original version there are better translations today.  Even so there are still some passages that are obscure and not full understood.  While the KJV is not a bad translation there are more correct one available.

That being said. The KJV of the 23rd Psalm is a masterpiece of literature in itself.

My Bibles contain the Septuagint Old Testament.   I own several versions, but none of the politically correct versions.  Very interesting to compare translations.
