Wow. Wifes Maui Jim sunglasses. Progressive lenses. We’re talking 800 dollar prescription sunglasses. They broke at the hinge. Called them up and Maui send them to us and we’ll fix.
She sent sunglasses in. Maui replaced everything and kept the same lenses. Cost? 13 bucks. Turn around time? Shipping time was longer than repair. New glasses in a week, ship time included. That’s going above and beyond on service. |

They are solid. I've bought a couple pair for my wife and their customer service is outstanding. Need a new nose bomb or ear sock? Send them an email and they send you two. Need new non-prescription lenses? Send them in and they will refurbish your frames and put in new lenses for much less than a whole new pair. I've long been an Oakley fan but I am considering a couple MJ replacements for myself this year.

Agreed. I had a pair that a puppy ate and sent them in to see if they could be saved. New glasses returned in a week. I think I had to pay $55 for the “repair” but for $500 shades I was happy. Decided to not kill the dog because of the experience.

I agree great glasses but their customer service is horrible. After a year the lenses had some weird ass micro cracks everywhere and I take care of them too. They told me politely to pound sand but she nicely offered to place an order for a new pair at full price

They’re 8 years old. |

I've owned Maui Jim's for over 10 years and several frames. I won't own another brand.

I get Rx sunglasses and regular Rx glasses at Costco and they have never broken. Going on 16 years I’ve never had a bad pair. Usually pay 120 bucks at most. If they did, it would cost me zero at Costco to replace them during first year. But I don’t really care about sunglasses sooo....I don’t need the best |
|
They are tier 1 indeed. I have prescription and non-prescription. Prescription are super spendy since it's also their lens in them. Totally worth it!
ETA: I used to do Costco sunglasses, I've done Oakleys and Spy, Rayban, Bolle (back in the day) and not a single one of them can compare with the optical quality of Maui's. |

Maui Jim sunglasses are made in Peoria, Il. Why are they called "Maui" Jim. Nothing even close to Hawaii so complete expensive fraud.

Wife has a pair of their aviators she’s had for over 10 years. Our toddler got his mitts on them and bent the temples backwards. We sent them in and got them back perfectly repaired.

Back before I needed prescription glasses to drive, I had a pair of MJ sunglasses with titanium frames. Loved those glasses. Unfortunately I lost them when I died of a heart attack on the road in '06.

I love my Maui Jim's.
I sent them back for repair and I swear they must have sent me a new pair. They came back absolutely perfect. I have the Guardrails, and they replaced the lenses, nose pieces (and sent a spare set) and the rubber covers on the arms. They even sent a new case and the little bag inside. I'm a customer for life. |

I am not usually the poor who shits in threads, but here I go. My zenni sunglasses are about 4 years old, worn constantly as my motorcycle glasses, and they are fine. The frames were $7 (not a typo) and the lenses were $28 total I believe with anti glare/scratch and blue mirror tint.
If you want usa made, I get it, they will be pricey. |

Warranty center is in Peoria. Best polarized lenses ever. Between my wife and I we have like 5 or 6 pairs. One set for each car. Awesome customer service.

I was very pleased with my Costa repair I had done last year.
I had an older pair of Fathoms that the screw wore through the frame hinge so the leg fell off. The nose and arms rubber pads were also peeling. The lenses had some slight scratches but were still very usable so I figured I would have the frames replaced and use them as a beater pair. I checked the warranty info and it listed broken hinges as a wear issue and it most likely wouldn't be covered. Ok that's fair so I expected to pay the $50 or $70 whatever it was for new frames. I filled out the online warranty and it said approved - print the shipping label and send them in for free repair. Sweet! Not a bad deal at all I'm happy. They show back up a couple weeks later and I bust them out to take a look. Huh, wow, they buffed the lenses really well.. wait there isn't a scratch anywhere.. oh, they just sent me a brand new pair. ?? |

I love all of mine and service when needed has always been outstanding.

Used their customer service before and they were great. Need to send another pair in for new lenses that I ruined. Their glass lenses have no equal in optical quality or clarity. This place is a circle jerk for Oakley but those are (Luxottica) garbage compared to Maui Jim. |

I've sent in several pairs of Costa Del Mars over the years. Warranty repair used to be free, but is a similar minimal cost now. Always come back looking completely new, actually being completely new, or a couple times I got to pick a new style as a replacement.
Unfortunately they got bought out by EssilorLuxottica who owns almost every major glasses brand. They've shut down operations at the original HQ Daytona. Not sure what the future holds for Costa. |

Native's are good for life as far as I know. Sounds like these are decent as well.

View Quote the problem with Costco is, they're lenses have a very narrow window. if your eyes aren't centered right in the lenses, the picture is a bit off. i get new glasses every year and Sam's and Costco have the best deals, but Costco does not use a good lab. turn around time is great, but the lenses are mediocre in quality. Surprisingly, Sams club must have recently changed labs, their lenses are better than they were years ago. My sister and brother in law are both optometrist and they did say that Sams club uses some major lab now. Like frames, most lenses are made in only a few places. |

Not only do they have the best CS, but also the best lenses. Although Costa are virtually equal on both counts

Love my Maui’s. Comfortable as hell and great company all around.

Only until Luxottica gets ahold of them and destroys the quality....

Onr year when we fished The Bluefin blowout in Gloucester the Maui Jim rep got shitty drunk on out boat and gave us a box full of sun glasses. .ost of them had white frames

I must be the red headed step child. My pair cracked along the bow screws after a year of average wear - no sitting or dropping, lens were cherry, told me they were not covered under warranty and the replacement was $180. Oakley's took a shotgun pellet - no issues as covered with full disclosure - civilian purchase.
They make great glasses, but were douches to me. |
|
I guess I need to hang onto the pair I own if they were bought out, they do make great sunglasses.
