Nearly every new construction or "updated" house I see a real estate listing for looks like the shit above.

Anything real wood? Painted gray.

Artificial wood? "Distressed" (gray).

Brick? Painted gray.

Disgusting.

How about the automotive market?

Here are the "color" options for the 2022 F-150:

Black
Carbonized GRAY
Iconic Silver (GRAY)
Stone GRAY
Oxford White
Velocity Blue
Race Red
Rapid Red
Space White (has a hint of GRAY)
Antimatter Blue (looks like black unless in bright direct light)
Guard (a greenish GRAY color)

11 "color" options, and only three of them are actually distinguishable as a colors you can't see in a B&W movie.

In recent years, less than 20% of vehicles sold in the US are an actual color.

This might be the worst color trend ever. Yes, I'm well aware that harvest gold and avocado green happened. I wasn't alive when those were trendy, but plenty of that stuff was still around being laughed at and being replaced as I was growing up. But you know what? At least it was fun.

There's nothing fun about seeing entire neighborhoods that look like they sourced all their home and auto paint from a damn naval yard. Not only is it not fun, but it doesn't look good by any of the relevant adjectives. Beautiful? Pretty? Aesthetically pleasing? Hard no.

Don't fool yourselves. This gray crap is, at best, inoffensive. It's a "safe" choice, and nothing more.

Some sunny day (assuming civilization doesn't collapse), people are going to start throwing away and painting over all the gray shit with something else, ANYTHING else, and it's going to be great.

I really like that blue gray color Subaru uses. Looks like it belongs on a F-4F Wildcat, or in a camo paint scheme for a WWII Warship.

I love that color. Everything should come in gray.

I need to repaint the interior of my house soon. I am thinking of just making every room the same color of gray and white trim.

I agree. I have a rule - if you are not the US Military, don't paint it grey.

I used to watch Flea Market Flip with my wife, and I'd cringe every time someone would paint a nice piece of hardwood furniture grey.

I just bought a house that the PO painted all of it inside grey. Place is a cave. Just got done painting it an off white. Motherfucker painted all the mahogany trim white.

That color works very well on an STI.

Overall, can't stand grey/black/silver vehicles.

I'll take the 70's greens and golds again over the bland.

I like grey. I do agree, I noticed a bunch of the colors Ford offers (when I was looking at Broncos) are really just greys, which is a bit much. I really love that the old VW Anthracite has made a come back.

Real wood is too expensive to use for anything anymore. That's why they paint the MDF cabinets.

As for the exterior, I like it, especially the bricks. Gives it a look like a stone cottage or something.

The real problem with modern homes are the neighbors close enough to stick a fishing pole out your window and poke their house with it. I'd rather live in a 1600sq foot house on 10 acres than a 3000sq foot house on 0.3 acres.

A few months after I bought my house, I realized all the cabinetry and the island in my kitchen are solid oak. They painted it all white and grey.

My Dad painted the whole home gray, since it made him feel young. The USS Epperson was gray. I think it's depressing. I have 5 gallons of paint, time to use it.

Those awful 70's colors...they sucked then but hey- to each their own.
Cars are all grey, black, white or silver now...its boring.
It's like we're losing any concept of fun, happiness or hope.
A grey, dead world of no feeling.
