Lets do this again and go over some of the most important talking points. I will concede and add the negatives.

Relatively Safe
Decent Gun Laws
Can Hunt with Suppressors
No State Income Tax (Great for Businesses)
Superior Barbeque
Whataburger (We also have In N Out too just because)
Sweet Tea
Diversity (Which makes us more cultured)
Large Oil and Gas Industry
Military Bases with decent Armories
NASA
Astros
Tech Boom

Drawbacks:

Bad weather
Crime in big cities
Not enough public hunting land

No state with fire ants is the “best state”.

Texas does do a lot of things very right though.

I LOVE LIVING IN TEXAS, Much better than my Previous State of Colorado (at least what has become of it) + its next door to Louisiana :)

You missed the biggest drawback, borders Mexico.

And NC bbq ftw.

I think that if we had a southern border worth calling it one and didn’t get completely assfucked on property taxes, I’d be much more inclined to agree with you.
Instead we don’t really have a border and get completely screwed on imaginary non capitalized capital gains.

Agreed. The US only has 49 states, too. You guys do you, and stay out.

Blasphemy, there is only one kind of BBQ and that is Texas, anything else just kills trees with copious amounts of wasted paper towels.

We've been here since our Cherokee ancestors bolted off the Res in the 1820's.

Came from Alabama.

Fought Caddo and Sabine Indians in East Texas to make a name for themselves too.

Fearless and damn near indestructible as well.

Or we still wouldn't be here.

At least that's what they tell me from the Ancients.

No Dawes roll # for me.

F it.

Now the tribe in East Texas has incorporated Muong tribespeople and their children and lead by a former Green Beret who used them in Vietnam and Lao who is the tribal Chief of this particular band now.

Fine with me.

Got to pick and choose about some of the ladies tho..

I thought about getting a second home in Texas once.  Then I realized that public land to shoot on is almost non-existent.  And, because of no state income tax, the property taxes are unbelievably high.
So, I decided to stay in Arizona.

When you have fire ants you don’t have ticks. We don’t have a Lyme Disease because the fire ants eat the ticks. You have to take the good with the bad.

Born and Raised.  Great place to live.  Great Opportunities.

Only real complaints are the illegals, weather, and lack of public land.  Once I started vacationing out West, you kind of feel like a rat in a cage here.  I'm fortunate to have private property to hunt, shoot and recreate on.  If it wasn't for that I'd have been gone a long time ago.

Grass is always greener.  I'm sure some with ample public land around them would kill to have the career opportunities we have here.

It is certainly a pretty cool thing about the West, but I value private property rights more than I do state ownership of damn near anything.

Hotter than hell.

Too close to mexico

Virtually no public land

Power grid that fail

high property tax (that makes up for your "no income tax")

... no thanks.

Whataburger donated to and openly supported Beto's campaign, even before it was bought by a Chicago company. What you guys consider barbecue is nasty compared to offerings in GA, the Carolinas, and even TN. Many other red states are safer and have better gun laws. I'll take four seasons to your nine months of 85°+ weather any day. Your lack of income tax is more than offset by your ridiculous property taxes.

Texas has qualities, sure, but you'd struggle to find anyone not from Texas to agree with you that it's the "best" state.
