A millionaire conwoman has been accused of swindling the US Army out of $100million over six years by putting cash into her fake military youth business and splurging it on 31 homes and more than 70 supercars and motorcycles.

Janet Yamanaka Mello, 57, allegedly took military funds and spent millions of dollars on jewelry, clothing, luxury vehicles and real estate in one of the biggest fraud cases the military has ever dealt with.

Mello worked for the US Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas as a CYS Financial Program Manager.

In 2016, she allegedly created a shell company, Child Health and Youth Lifelong Development, which she fraudulently used to collect money from the 4-H military partnership grant.


Now, Mello has nearly 80 vehicles and 31 properties across five states up for forfeiture - as federal prosecutors allege she lived a life of luxury and opulence that was clearly not supported by her $130,000 a year government salary.

Any "extra" thing you can do will help....woman owned, minority owned, minority woman owned, etc.   Each time I've completed the paperwork for a .gov contract I spend more time detailing the ownership of my business and if all of my HR related stuff is on file than what the contract is actually for.

Yes, I worked for a Chinese woman and she made sure her company was 51% owned by her and 49% owned by her husband. She got to be minority owned and woman owned! Biggest thief I ever met. I left after a month. Damned giant Chinese devil woman died in her sleep. She got off easy.

No level of checks and balances, pressure to  award Women owned, SDVOB, hub zone, etc and multi million contracts without competition. Start sending anyone in the chain of command that oversees these contracts to jail as well as the guilty.

The diversion of 80% of our resources to that project would've killed our firm when the project went under.

And the officer in charge of post CID since the only way they discovered it was the boyfriend got pulled over by the New Windsor NY, PD and before they said a word to Him he confessed the whole scheme, when they looked in the car the back seat was like a stereo store. Since their HQ was right next to the MP's building at Stewart Airport/AFB they reported it to the MPs. Who ignored it. In the process NW PD ran out to Her house and found it STOCKED with every kind of appliance and electronics you could need all still in the boxes. The MPs/CID  still turned their head the other way. SO the NW PD turned to the other side of the parking lot where another Fed agency had a little building, The FBI was way more interested in theft and embezzlement from a military post and BOY was the head of CID surprised when the FBI showed up in his office with info he should have been investigating months before. As was the Col in charge of Dept Of Engineering and Housing when they all trouped over to his office for some explanations.  That resulted in Her getting arrested on the spot (She was still at her job weeks after BF spilled the beans) and a few hours later the Col being relieved on the spot --which never happened there at USMA, Usually a senior officer like that would get promoted and retired the same day and shuffled off some where asap. I remember it because alot of other employees were nervous because many people had bought top end VCRs DVD players and appliances from her for cash --cheap
She was supposed to keep her job and pay back a little every week but I doubt that happened.
