I'm in the process of picking up a sparrow22 for a rifle I have. Unfortunately, I don't have any .22lr pistols with threaded barrels on them. What are some good hosts for a suppressor that don't cost an arm and a leg.
This would just be for plinking around the house. I just want something that will feed reliably with standard velocity .22lr ammo. Any suggestions? I was looking around on PSA....and they have all kinds of sub $500 .22lr pistols with threaded barrels....FN, Ruger, S&W, ATI, etc. That FN 502 Tactical looks like a nice pistol..... Thanks!! |

Affordable: Taurus TX22. And surprisingly well designed.

M&P 22 Compact
Sig P322 One benefit of a pistol is the barrel is short enough to make bulk pack ammo subsonic, so save the standard velocity for rifles. |

Another vote for the Ruger Mk IV
I got a 22/45 tactical with a DA Mask. It’s an awesome combination. Ruger seems to be the only mfg’er serious about making a quality 22 pistol. All others seem like cobbled afterthoughts made just to round out their product offerings. |

Smith & Wesson .22 Victory
Super accurate, Easy to take apart and put together. Holster options out there. Balance is perfect and so is the grip angle for me. All of my other suppressor hosts in .22 are now sitting in the back of the gun safe. I only shoot this thing now. ETA: Yes the same can, and it is nice and quiet. |

If you want REALLY cheap, Bass Pro is clearancing out the Walther P22 in order to make room for the updated version. Mine was $245.
2 10 round mags and a damn tiny gun. They don't deal well with very high round counts (shot my first one so much the slide wore itself out) but I consider it better accuracy wise than the TX22. a pistol I had to replace the barrel on due to leading. Still found out that it grouped like crap. Sold it to our pest control guy. Another cheap and suprisingly decent little gun is the Keltec P17. That one was $189 with 17 rd magazines. |

i had a 502tac with holosun and while it’s fun to plink with, i’ve had ejection/ftf issues. sent it back, they tested it and said it was gtg.
i still have occasional issues and clean it after every shoot w it. i’d prob get it again. and yes, i’ve tried multiple ammo types, as did FN. |

I recently picked up a Sig P322. i was a little concerned given the mixed reviews i've read, but it has been great.

I like my FN 502. I liked my Taurus tx22 but they didnt have an optics ready version when i sold it to buy the fn502. They make optics ready versions now.
The little sig .22 looks interesting, but i have no experience with it. |

The Browning Buck series is super accurate and shoots like a dream plus it is very reliable. I like it much better than the Rugers.

Find as new of a S&W 422/622 as you can find. Bore runs along the bottom of the slab barrel. Readily adapts to suppessor. No need for suppessor height sights. Uses Model 41 mags. Super reliable. Loves Stingers.

Whatever it is make sure it isn’t an Sig Mosquito. I don’t know if they even make them anymore…
We have a M&P .22 that my GF won and it’s a fun little gun to shoot suppressed. |

Another vote for the TX22
Great little pistols, and 16 round mags are nice |

I got one of the Silencer Shop 22/45s here on the EE. I like how short it is with the can. I ended up buying a Rugged Mustang just for it. Attached File

I have:
M&P .22 Compact (my favorite). Mark II with a Tac Sol upper. Walther P-22 (never had a single issue with it lol). I'd get the M&P. |

Taurus TX22 Competition. Mine has been flawless and I feed it a steady diet of garbage ammo.

I was super impressed with the TX 22 because it is accurate and reliable with any kind of ammunition you put through it. Also, it has the thread adapter included in the box. I don’t understand why so many people are recommending the Ruger mark iv. I guess the fact that it jams constantly and is super ammo, sensitive, doesn’t matter for a fun blinker, but I like my guns to be reliable.

Ruger MkIV 22/45 Lite. They were made specifically to shoot suppressed. Easily the best 22LR platform for shooting suppressed. Easiest to clean and mount optics as well.

You must play the game. You can't win. You can't break even. You can't quit the game.

You really can't go wrong with either. The Ruger Mark IV is nice but a little heavy. Able to take down in 3 seconds. The TX.22 Cpmpetition with a red dot is a wonderful combo.
I have both and use the Taurus more. You can extend the mag to 24. Originally Posted By wmagrush: Affordable: Taurus TX22. And surprisingly well designed. View Quote |

View Quote Ruger MKIV for the win. Many of the 22s are made if pot metal and not very durable. I had a Walther that literally fell apart after several hundred rounds. The Sig mosquito isnt much better. You also need adaptors for suppressors. The Browning 22s are also very nice and come with the barrel threaded. |

I have a bunch of 22 hosts. They almost all suck. But the tx22 never had issues. And I've even run it without cleaning it to see how long i can do with it before performance degrades. It's hard to get it to choke |

My TX22 has been solid.
I plan to pick up the comp version too. |

No mi burros, no mi rancho

I have the P22. Works great with my can. Eats any ammo from sub sonic to the hot stuff. As long as the can is on it. No can, jamb-o-matic. Every 3rd round is a problem.

Ruger MKIV or Browning Buckmark
IMHO the 2 best basic .22 pistols for suppressing. |

You said cheep that works, that’s a KelTec P17. All the above mentioned guns work also, but a P17 can be bought for just under 200 bucks.
