The lowly 10/22 I bought at age 18 back in 2002 is now one of my absolute favorite guns to shoot.
Not long after I got it, I put a Hogue stock and heavy match barrel on it. (Adams & Bennett from Midway… remember those?). It’s always been an accurate rifle, but has mostly been ignored over the years. Fast forward to now. We have three boys, 10, 10, and 12, and they all love to shoot, especially .22s. Had to order a DA Mask with these quick turnaround times. Took 27 days. While we waited, I had that Ruger threaded and ordered a better scope setup, complete with new rings and base. It’s so damn quiet it’ll make you giggle like a fool. Golf balls, empty shotgun shells, clay pigeons, tiny steel plates, nothing is safe. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Does ok on paper at 100, but the clay birds are more fun at 100. Attached File Much better at 50yds of course. You could hit a quarter with each shot without much trouble. Of course, no pics of the 50yd targets. You’ll just have to believe me LOL. Scope is a Hawke rimfire with a reticle that is spot on so far between the 50yd and 100yd positions. Blurry pic from the web: Attached File |

What are you using for ammo with it? Anything subsonic? I have been using Aguila subsonics. .22's with silencers are stupid fun. It's a wonder how I ever put up without one.

Suppressed .22 is some of the best fun on a gun range you can have. I need more .22 silencers.

recently got my silencerco sparrow approved and i've been having an incredible amount of time shooting with it on my TX22 and the BCA rimfire upper i bought a while back

View Quote Yep, Norma Tac-22. It’s subsonic, but not by much. Advertised at 1083fps. Shoots well, functions 100%. I may or may not have been letting the kids play with my chronograph in the backyard with Nerf darts and airsoft guns, and may or may not have “calibrated” the chrono with this thing and saw 1041 fps from that Norma. I love Mini-Mags, but they don’t do well through this rifle. CCI standard does well though. |

My Ruger American Rimfire with a Magpul RLS sling and Dead Air Mask is my most favorite firearm. I have a couple steel targets set up 60 yards from my back deck, one of which is a 4 inch gong and makes for quite the challenge as I just shoot it open sights with the fiberoptic front post. Bought a scope for it when I ordered the gun and never put it on as it's way too much fun as is. Especially with the 15 round Ruger mags.

My 10/22 takedown with Magpul Hunter X-22 stock, Leupold 1-4, Specter II SWR suppressor. I had the rifle Cerakoted because I really didn't like the bright blue finish that Ruger put on it.

20ish years back I had an M11/9 and a giant Bowers CAC9 suppressor on it. I sold the SMG some time later and kept the can. I sent the giant Bowers can back to Bowers and had them install a 1/2x28 mount and a .22 endcap. I SBR’d a 10/22 and put my Bowers can on it. It was silly quiet. One day at the range some old man was so taken aback and impressed that he offered crazy money despite it being cheaper to build his own. So 2 transfers and a year later it was gone and I regretted it since the day I said yes. Just seeing it in my safe made me sad while it was waiting for the stamps.
I have more modern suppressors now but I still miss that. I should build that setup again. ETA: I still use an AAC Ranger II on my 77/22. It’s crazy quiet too. If you’re willing to use a huge volume suppressor or dedicate a 556 can to a .22 you can get impressive results. |

The 10/22 is designated as an assault rifle in my state :-(
I have two, and should upgrayyed them sorta like you have done :-) |

Nothing I love more then my 10/22 with my Silencerco Switchback and my MKIV Lite with my DA Mask

Very cool. I want a can bad for my 10/22s
I have one of those Adam's & Bennett SS fluted barrels in my parts box just waiting on a build |

22 suppressed is best life suppressed. We have more fun shooting the suppressed 22’s than anything else.

so I love my Ruger american rimfire just shooting it normal, I've never owned a can before and want to get one, either for it or for something else, but I think the 22 would be most practical, however I have a question. are suppressors generally better on semi autos vs bolt guns? is there much of a difference? I figure with the bolt gun I can run a much wider range of ammo, including 22 shorts if stacked on top of 22 lr (I've tried it and it works in the 10/22 rotary mag this way)
what are soom good suppressed rounds to use for iit? I avoid aguila, I bought one of midsouth shooters 2000rd bundles for $100 deals, and that ammo was crap, 40gr super extra, thee cases would have to be manually extracted as they expanded so much the exttractor on the rifle wouldn't pull me out, yet it pull any other type of ammo casing out no problem. I've also had chambrig issues with some of aguilas JHP 9mm ammo |

I’ve had good luck with both staying subsonic in rifle barrels. |

Quoted: Wait till you try a suppressed 77/44 View Quote I was at Curtis Higgins’s place many years back when he handed me one of his 77/44s to go play with out back while he worked on one of my guns. I’ve never giggled like that. I probably have 70 stamps now and I can’t even remember most of the projects I’ve started. I do have an SBR Ruger custom No 1 in .44 with a big integral custom can on it. That’s also one where people giggle when all they can hear is pin hit, little flight noise, and the the thump of impact. |

Sweet setup op!
Out of curiosity, how much louder is regular .22lr than the subsonic when suppressed? Still no-earpro-safe? |

Suppressed 10/22s are always a good time

View Quote @DoubleARon Yessuh. Attached File It looks totally ridiculous on the old MkII, but it’s also super quiet. All I learned is that I need another 22 can, because this Mask is gonna live on the 10/22. Also, sharp looking slabside, my man!! |

Quoted: How is the fouling behavior on the 10/22 with that? View Quote @lazyengineer Fine question. So far so good. I’m not cleaning the bore other than a dry patch. Letting the fouling from just this one type of ammo get all up in it. That said, I’m wiping everything else without disassembling. This Norma ammo is pretty waxy. No malfunctions so far in 500 rounds. But I’ll be on the lookout. Just Ruger 10 round factory mags for now. |

I have an AAC Prodigy that lives on my 10/22.
It's definitely the go-to for new shooters I've brought along. Easily the most fun I've had was shooting one 200 yards . . . ridiculous amount of holdover and the clang from hitting steel takes a minute to get back to you |
