I know shit about artillery, but it kinda seems like a slamfire, I didnt see anyone pull any ripcords or anything.

It is indeed a slam fire; never seen one (or even heard of one) on an artillery piece before this. Musta been defective ammo.

The FIRST thing they pound into your brain at 13B AIT is to stay out of the breech's way. That was a gun, not a howitzer, btw.

I was watching a documentary about marines training (at knox i think but could be wrong) on the M1 abrams....they told them 10,000 times NOT to get behind the main gun...supposedly too many marines (more than 0) have been lost by leaning behind the gun...maybe bending over and picking something up or something like that, and the gunner pulls the trigger....

That's not really artillery. Looks more like an anti-tank gun of some sort. Also, note it uses a cartridge type round rather than a separate projectile and powder.

Very bad to stand behind the breech. That guy got seriously screwed up.

The really bad thing is it hit him in te pelvis. .... He will probably never walk again. Ouch..... and if you notice he loaded with his fingers. you are supposed to stand to the side of the breech, introduce the round, and with a closed fist shove it in to the chamber. That was someone unfamiliar with the weapon, and procedures. Jezus I hate seeing newbies get hurt. Kinda like sending one into the comand tent for a "PRiC" E8.

Not funny at all. Broken ribs and other ailments must have been the result from that 57 mm anti-tank gun of WW II vintage. The Brits called it a 6 pdr.
