What's the hive think about Kilts
Have been thinking about getting one for quite a while now & after going to a Scottish/Irish fest where there were tons of people in all kinds of kilts & their was a tent set up from www.utilikilts.com/ Almost got a Mocker or Survival kilt, but the line was stupidly long so we passed it up, not to mention it was strange seeing men and women dropping trousers and skivvies in the middle of a huge crowd while trying on a Kilt. Wonder what kind of skid marks ya leave on the inside of a Kilt, or do ya just pull it up and leave em on the chair |

Are you a Scot by birth, then? |
I don't think I would like to wear one...
I like to protect my manhood with some kind of heavy cloth and some undies for support... What if you were to fall down while doing yard work... Would you get grass on your manhood if you had a kilt on while on your riding mower? If I did have one, I wouldn't wear it very often... |
Nope, but not cause I think their stupid/a man dress. They arent my style. I prefer jeans.
Certainly.
Every time I drive by Utilikilts I think about it. They're just really expensive. |
I talked to a dude that had one on at Blizzcon. He says they wear very well and teh one he had has been warn regularly for 4 years and it only showed a bit of ware on the bottom edge.

A "real" kilt? Yes! I own a tuxedo, and have not been seen in anything but black tie kilt for any event requiring "formal" for years. Plus, I play the great highland bagpipe, so I am in a kilt fairly often.
The utilikilt is an abomination. Unless you are 1SG Farr, if it is not wool and it is not a tartan, you are simply wearing a skirt. |
Oops, I did didn't I |

Maybe if I had even a drop of Scottish blood in me or could fake a Sean Connery accent.
As is, I would just look like a guy in a skirt. |
IMHO, the only males who can wear a kilt and still be considered masculine are the Scotsmen and Irishmen. For the rest of us, kilt=dress.
yes i do wear one but i wear an amerikilt and i am half irish so its ok. its great camping attire, and you cant beat the breeze.
i want a utilikilt but they are pricey, but i will get a few also the looks from woman are great, its amazing how many woman have walked over to talk to me even when the wife is standing right there. as for the skid marks they are not a problem |
Smart choice. |

No thanks. I know Scots are proud of them, but I just don't like them. I saw a few people that were part of the buck the trend crowd in high school that wore them to be different a few times. Hey look at me! I'm wearing a kilt! I don't care what you think, but I'm cool and a unique little flower!
I've worn them before, when I was in Italy with my school band.
Five of us got black kilts, and were leading the band to the playing area. The teacher who does the videos taped us, then added "Little Green Bag" from Reservoir Dogs to the sound.hough: |
Just stick to jeans and you won't have to go around picking up heavy rocks and stuff to keep people from making fun of you.
Yes - because my Grandmother is a McKinley. So if I could find the McKinley plaid I would.
Why the hell would I?
Shorts are too ghey for me. A skirt? Bitch please. |
Well since both my Great Gramps and Great Grams both came from County Limerick & the wife's family was Scottish I might qualify |
if it cant be used as a tent or a blanket it aint a kilt, it is a skirt...
I'd wear one, but it has to be in either ACU or Multicam pattern, so i can wear it to the range. Sadly, I'm not Scottish or Irish, so no family tartan for me, but still...
I would, but I don't think I could pull it off. Besides, I'm not even remotely Scottish.
If I was serving in the Blackwatch or Scots Guards..yeah....otherwise no...I guess being half Irish I could find the Tartan of the Ryan or whatever they are known as in Gaelic clan...but I see no real reason to wear a kilt
I wore one at my wedding in my Dad's family tartan colors. Still got it but have not worn it since (12+ years)
wore a great kilt,, at a themed wedding in a tartan evry very similar to my families...
i'd wear one hiking etc but down here i really dont feel like chiggers in my asshole or ticks on my 2nd head |
No because they are teh ghey. Pro kilt people may be able to come up with a good reason to wear lipstick, I aint wearin that either....
What do you consider "cheap"? What type of kilt would you be looking for and under what conditions would you wear it? I know quite a few kilt makers that have done custom work for not much money. Of course, it's not "JC Penny jeans" cheap. |
Naturally!
I'm Scottish, so I obviously wear kilts frequently. I favour the Black Watch tartan. |
I want a utility kilt but they have been backordered on the web site like for 3 months now

Here ya go |
