The following is to set a guideline to camp threads which should help in making the process smoother and more hassle free.
General Forum Guidelines
When setting up an open camp invitation camp thread:
Please notify me via IM of when you intend to post the thread so I can tack it. Keep in mind that I will not tack it until the thread gets a minimum of two positive replies indicating interest.
Please keep in mind that "Closed Camps" or "By Invitation Only Camps" will not be tacked.
Please note the camp dates in the thread title when it is agreed upon. Threads with no agreed date will be released from tack after one month. This may be appealed or extention requested by IM to myself.
Thread originator is responsible for the thread content. Notify me of any problems to include trolling and violation of the COC. I will be monitoring these threads as usual but would like the originator to take some responsibility in this area. Troll posts or COC violation posts will be edited to try to keep the thread going.
Follow-up after camp threads will be reviewed on a case by case basis for tacking and only on request. Please do not post your after action reports in the announcement thread. We should do everything possible to limit the number of tacked threads to give others opportunity.
Tacked camp threads will be released from tacking after completion.
Camp threads indicating a camp more than three months out will not be tacked. Once again we need to give some space at the top of the page so others may participate.
Please be advised that any threads advocating illegal activity even minor will be locked and trashed.
General Recommendations and Comments
Please note that these tacked threads are not AR15.com sponsored events and the site holds no liability or responsibility for the functions. This is simply a method for like-minded folks to get to know each other and nothing more.
From experience, its highly recommended that someone take a host role which is typically the guy who picks the site for the camp and coordinates the directions. This typically does not indicate a leadership role but an administrative role. Host roles sometimes change away from the thread originator and its highly recommended that you advise me of this via IM but not necessary.
It’s a real good idea to post the camp guidelines up front so there are no misunderstandings such as “No Guns”, “No fires”, or “Bring your own food” etc.
It’s also a good idea to notify the conditions of the camp to those interested such as “Its really cold”, “It’s a hike this long over this type terrain”, “Tents only” or “This is a truck/car camp” etc.
Please keep in mind that this is a public forum and any specific locations or directions therefore open to the public. It’s a really good idea to send this information via IM or email unless you don’t care for uninvited guests.
These camps are a heck of a lot of fun and I have enjoyed them a lot as I’m sure most of you guys have. I appreciate your cooperation in this so that we can not only make this process smoother but more frequent.
Regards,
Tj
