Yep, DMR is VoIP
![]() Just added this morning and checked into the 556 group w/o a radio or hotspot. Nice to have in the belt for those of us w/o hotspot or localized repeater. ![]() |

Just tried it on 556 with an old Galaxy through wi-fi. Works good.
Now make it available for iOS. ![]() So far can't TX on D-Star and won't connect to YSF. |

I am getting it on my phone, I know absolutely nothing about DMR besides the fact that it’s digital and hard to program. What do I need to do to be able to get on and more specifically on the ARFCOM group?
1. Get DMRID
2. Install App (enter call/dmrid in settings) 3. Mode: DMR 4. Host: TGIF 5. TGID: 556 6. Connect 7. PTT |
Thanks. Remember I said I knew nothing though..I guess I need a DMRID? Ok. I went to the page to sign up. Is the DMRID site run by LOTW???? cause I'm seeing similarities..I am in the process though.

Ok. I got a dmr number. I entered it on the settings page. Along with call sign, location and Lon/lat.
Main I put DMR, host TGIF network and TG ID 556 I het connect and nothing. What do I do? |
You won't hear anything if you key up.
Unlike a repater there is no courtesy tone. I am there now if you want to try again. |
I mean it wont connect. I entered the info on the second page and on the first it didnt put my call sign in the call sign spot. I really want to do digital stuff but this sort of thing always happens. It's why I havent spent the money on a DMR rig.
It's ok, we'll get you there. Mine wouldn't connect to begin with, that's why I mentioned the essid or whatever....here's what mine looks like. Some have mentioned it works best on WiFi while I used it this morning on LTE driving to work?!

Just looked quickly and didn't see anything obvious but, does anyone see a way to connect this app to a private HBLink server?
Ha. I made it work last night. Talked to someone in FL. Which one of you was it?
I think I have this working. At least i have the settings as indicated above and am able to connect. What are the expectations for using this? Do I need to say my Amateur call sign when I speak?
Think of it as a "repeater", announce you call and see what happens.
I think I just got this to work but its 0124 so I reckon everyone's asleep.

Wasn't detecting me with the same IP on selfcare, got a no signal report on 556, was seen changing TGs on the active TGs page, nothing came back to me from parrot, and 777 didn't seem to scan through all TGs like it's supposed to. |

Starting in on this.
I use an iPhone, so its good that I have this old android phone I can use to install the app. :-) |

stupid question
do I need another DMR radio ID for this or do I re-use one I already have (have 2 as is) (also - I was hoping it would work with the PTT button on my phone... not yet) |
First contact made. :-)
I was loud and clear on my old Samsung Galaxy S7. I got this phone from a buddy of mine just because I wanted to put a crypto wallet on it that wasnt available for iOS. Its nice that now it has another purpose. Dont get rid of your old phones guys!! |

@SCWolverine
Should I save this DMRID somewhere to use when I eventually get a DMR radio? This stupid thread has me thinking I need an Anytone HT now. ![]() |
It's in the DMRID database so you can always go back and look there. I have all of ours written down, somewhere
I found out that the site was attacked by listening on the DMR group. Some good EMCOM was going down in there. :-)

Wonderful ... the signup site has made it into a blackhole server:

I think I made contact. Nice program. A little more difficult to setup/use than Echolink. But, it's good to have options. Now all I have to do is learn how to program the DMR radio I have still sitting in a box and set up the little hotspot to go with it.

TGIF TG 556 is still on the Legacy Server, if that helps.
Anyone with knowledge of he app developer know how often the hosts are updated? NVM |

Unfortunately, looking at the history, it keeps on getting added. |

I finally got my ID after wandering through the maze to twisty little passages on the FCC site to get a copy of my license.
They don't make it easy. Anyway, looking at the tgif.network site, I can see when I "kerchunk" the app. But it doesn't show anything but the DMR ID, no callsign or anything - is that because it hasn't reloaded the database? Or should I be entering my callsign somewhere in the DMR settings? I can't see where that might be... |

When other hams update their codeplug with the latest user database into their contact list, your name and call will show up on their radios if DMR. Your hotspot probably also needs to update it's database for everything to be on the same page. |

Very Cool. I have not been on in a while, but y repeater has been chugging along on the 556 talk group. Got the Droid star setup and getting the wife a DMR id.
