I have to say that I was hesitant about posting my first build here after seeing everyone elses rifles! - there are some extremely nice AR builds on this thread! This is my first post - and my first AR build, the rifle started off as a Remington R15 and this is what it ended up as, i still need a flip up front sight and a MS3 sling is on its way, but the rifle shoots great and is very comfortable and balanced, let me know what you all think.http://i1312.photobucket.com/albums/t523/NOMISSMARK/DSCF1573_zpsfb24bbec.jpg

Looks good. 2 things . One I think you have your rear flip up in the wrong position to be collapsed. Second personally I'd move that eotech forward 5 or 6 rails.

Looks NICE! and welcome! Is that a Rifle length gas system your running? |

Thank you! Yes its a rifle length tube alright, i am seriously considering a piston upgrade though.

Hi drop11, the rear flip is a YHM A2 style rear with the short range/long range appetures, the instruction leaflet that came with it had the sight pictured as i have it fitted, so i have that one covered, - but why move the optic forward? - this is the professional input i need so advise away!

If you haven't had cycling troubles piston is a waste of money. If you have had cycling issues just open up the gas port a little. Also the reason the eotech needs to be further forward is it is easier to find the reticle and it increases field of view. It is all really just down to personal preference tho. |

No, I don't really have any "better" photos, I'm just using my cell phone to take them and download them. Here's a more individual pic if that helps. It's a Colt m-4 that came with Magpul stock, grip, handguard, vertical grip, and rear MBUS. I added the ASAP, BAD lever, sling mount and Vortex Strikefire

Does the FSP get in the way of your field of view? i'm in the process of setting up my Spikes and have come to a fork in the road with my optics and if the FSP will get in the way. |

That and give a little more room to access the controls. Its still personal preference though. I run mine with the battery compartment forward of the receiver with the hood directly above the mag well. Its easy to pick up the reticle, good access to the controls and balances on the gun well. That stock you have is quite heavy (I have the same) and moving the site forward will help add a little balance to your rifle. |

Much appreciated input drop11, thank you! It makes a lot of sense and i have since moved the EoTech forward, its a lot faster to pick the reticle up now and even feels better in the shoulder.

Hey zapconj, I'm not sure if this pic helps or not but I think I know what you're asking. This is about the best pic I could get with my cell phone looking down the sight. The Strikefire and the fsp act in tandem. I believe it's referred to as "co-witness" but I'm not exactly certain to the proper definition of that term. Hope that helps. The only reason the view seems crooked is because of the way I was holding the phone.
