I was kinda thinking that too buuuuut. I’ve only ever seen one other uo close before. Three years ago at the gf’s apt complex lived an older McAllen police officer. He would get off his Tahoe everyday with his issued 6420 and his too had a slip ring not a delta ring. Also spent most of the afternoon looking as 6420s all have a slip ring.

6420’s are one of the most varied of the Colt carbines. Could have A1, C7 or A2 upper, slip ring or delta ring, teardrop or large round forward assist, SP1 type BCG or half moon carrier. A lot of changes though the ‘80’s, phasing out A1 parts and phasing in A2.
Source some original furniture (N1 fiberlite CAR stock, 2 position gray buffer tube, lock ring, end plate, Colt 6 hole handguards, Colt A2 pistol grip), a gray Colt charging handle and A2 flash hider with peel washer and its back to factory configuration. Probably $400-$450 and some diligent searching and patience will get you there.
