Arsenal of Bulgaria AK's were built on Russian tooling and are often considered to be as good (or sometimes better) than Izhmash military guns. The Soviets continued evolutionary improvements in machinery and manufacturing details for the 74 but the Bulgarians stayed with what they had. Eventually the Soviets ended up with the AK74M but even as recently as the past few years Arsenal of Bulgaria was still building 80's pattern rifles with the SLR105, 106 and 107
SLR105's are pretty much the best of the Bulgarian rifles IMO, but a good builder on a nice Bulgarian kit can work magic too.
