For several years I've been wearing a Nexbelt exclusively. They describe their product as a ratchet belt, or 'the belt with no holes.'
What this means is that rather than a belt with holes punched in it every inch or so, you end up with a ratchet system that adjusts quickly and more accurately in 1/4" increments and over a much longer range. They make a number of different types of belts and buckles, all based on the same principle of operation. From every day belts to dress leather belts and buckles, there's something for everyone, and for every situation. Most of my dress (at least when I leave the house) is jeans and an EDC carry belt. In addition to the superb ratchet mechanism, the belt itself is stiffened to support the weight of a holster and firearm. As I mentioned, I've been using a Nexbelt for several years, but recently the company updated their design and I decided up update my belt. This would be version 4.0, and I think what I was using before was version 2.0. Below are several pictures showing the old design vs. new, and I'll point out some of the many ways they have improved what I though was already a great product. In this first image, we can see that the teeth and lever that grip the end of the belt were widened and are almost twice the size of the original. This will grip much better than the older design. Also, the finish on the buckle seems to have been improved. The old buckle's finish had a tendency to wear off as you can easily see in the photo, where the new finish seems to be a more durable powered coat textured finish that should be less prone to wear. In this second image you'll notice that the area where the end of the belt is inserted into the buckle to be gripped by the lever we just described is longer, so more of the belt is contained inside. In addition, you'll see two holes in this area that will take a pair of set screws to provide yet another level of grip on that end of the belt. I never had a problem with the old system, but I have seen cases where removing the buckle from the belt often resulted in fraying, which in turn led to a looser fit here. This new system should be extremely solid. The front view shows a center "post" in what used to be an open center design. This should add strength to the buckle, and adds additional support to the ratchet mechanism. In the old design, you can see the ratchet lever right in the center. Without the center post, there was some flex with the belt, which could have allowed the belt to slip a little. With the center post directly in front of the belt and opposite the ratchet lever, this is no longer possible. Lastly, the side view shows one of the other significant changes, and that is the replacement of pins with screws. While it never happened to me, I saw the pin on another belt break before. The replacement of the pins with the screws means that the connection will be stronger, and also that if something does happen, it will be easier to fix without having to replace the entire buckle. So those are the main differences between what I already considered the best edc carry belt, and the new and improved version of it. I'm anxious to see how the new design holds up over time. For those of you still using non-ratcheting belts, I'd definitely recommend trying one. There is a design to fit everyone and every level of dress. You can mix and match buckles, belts, and colors. Caution! You better practice with that buckle a few times, strong hand, weak hand, and in a hurry. Otherwise, this’ll turn into a poop thread.
I really like Nextbelt. |

Nice! First time I saw racheting dress belts, thought that would be a nice feature in a carry belt, as compared to velcro. Will have to keep them in mind next time I need a new carry belt.

I bought one a few weeks ago at my LGS. I’m now a fan after a getting used to the latch release! Dude above ain’t kidding about a poop thread if you don’t figure it out beforehand!
I met one of the owners last week at the NRA show. Great guy. They had a nice selection of buckles and belts to handle and buy. He even helped me trim mine a bit more (I left it a bit long until I got used to it). I use mine to carry a full size pistol (Beretta M9A3) both in and on waist depending on my needs. It handles that effortlessly. Overall I recommend them. |

I've got the Blade-tech version (Ultimate Carry Belt) and have worn it every day since I got it. Sometimes I wish a wider 1 3/4 inch was available, but all of my other belts are lonely now.

I got mine today. Well made and the ratchet system is great .
Regular price would still be a deal, the code made it a steal. Thank you Mr A for the heads up, I’ll never buy another style belt again. |

These are great belts and my go to for the past year. They are by far the best ratcheting belt for carrying a gun on the market.

I do like my nexbelt, but it seems to be starting to fall apart. Maybe not, I took a lighter to all these threads after I took the picture. Hopefully that’ll stop the fraying, I really like mine.
Attached File That trim on the end looks like hell too. Some cheap synthetic that hasn’t held up well at all. Attached File |

I just received a Nexbelt gunbelt yesterday, it’s my favorite gun belt ever. I have tried at least 6 other more expensive gun belts over the past 20 years, but this one is by far the best. Just my $.02. This is the one I bought:

I wear the leather version of their EDC belt 5 days a week. I have been wearing it for about a year with no issues.
I have one of the cloth belts but don't wer it much. The buckle just seems heavy but I know a few others who wear it daily and love it. Definitely don't buy unless you get a coupon or there is a sale. There is no reason to pay full retail. |

I have about 5; 2 of which are dress, the others casual. Great belts.

Had 1 for a few months now. Love it

$115 for an Ares Gear Belt with an Aegis buckle?!?!?!?
Maybe for a handmade tooled leather belt, not for a synthetic belt with a plain stainless steel buckle. |
|
|
I picked one up about two months back and have been very happy with it.
|
|
|
I may of had a lemon, but my next belt took a dump in twenty minutes. The ratchet gave lose and bumped “open” a half dozen notches. I continued to use it carefully and it took about a month for the plastic portion to completely split in two pieces, length ways and I dumped it. My Aegis belt has been on for years but I hate how heavy and loud the buckle.

i bought one about 6 months ago.
my 3 other carry belts haven't seen much action lately |

I bought one a month ago, a week later I bought another. I am beyond happy with them. I had worn and been happy with a 5.11 for years but can't imagine going back.

I've had 2 of them that I used while on duty. The first lasted about a year carrying at least 5-10 pounds of gear. It's a nylon version and taking gear on and off multiple times a day just wears on nylon. The ratcheting buckle still works great, but the material wore out. The second one, the leather version, I'm still using after 3 years and it's starting to show some wear. I switched to Crossbreed gun belts for my off duty carry. I can see where the Nextbelts would be great for EDC, I just prefer the thicker leather of the Crossbreed for my off duty carry. I would definitely recommend the Nextbelt for anyone looking.

I have both KORE and NEX belts. Both have held up to EDC use, I prefer the smaller buckle on the NEX belt I have, especially for AIWB carry.

I have the Kore. Love it. First I heard of the NEX. I put one in my wish list.
Thx |

Can confirm, these are excellent. Ive been wearing one for almost a year daily at work, have worn it to two different handgun classes and its been great. Cant speak to the longevity of them, but I liked them enough i bought two more

I have 3 of the Kore belts, 2 of the Tactical Nylon Gun Belts and 1 of the leather gun belts. Happy with them so far. The leather one hasn't gotten much wear since right after I bought it we went casual at work.

My friend gifted me a nexbelt for my birthday and it only lasted a month before the kydex inside the belt snapped in three places. Not durable at all, total trash IMHO. I went back to my daltech force steel core belt.
|
|
|
I started with NextBelt but moved to KORE for EDC belts, even got one in 1-3/4" width for my competition gun/gear belt. KORE is much stiffer.
|
|
|
One big disadvantage is that the Kore has a bulkier buckle!
