Just put an order in for a Socom 762 Mini @ Silencer Shop. I didn't realize dealers can file form 4s electronically now. Hopefully I can get it in 6-7 months.

^^ Awesome. How do you like 'em? Huge difference between the two?

I have to say my socom556-RC is now my favorite QA can.
Everyone who hears it has nice things to say. |

I cant decide if I should get the RC, Mini, or 762 for my mk18.

Which surprised me Almost sounds like there's 2-3 rounds of "first round pop" on the 762 and the mini and then it quiets noticeably. I'm waiting on a 762 and am considering the 556 mini next. Can you tell a big difference from the weight at the end of the barrel? |
|
My socom762 is pretty impressive on my. pOF .p-308
Everyone who has heard it liked it, even when shot under cover. |
|
Bore sizes for the 556-RC and 556-SB would be helpful too. I wonder if there would be much difference between the 556-SB and 762-Mini on a 7.5" or 9" barrel?
|
|
I honestly can not figure out a reason for the SB compared to the 762Mini. They should be practically identical. Maybe slight difference in the bore and venting on the baffels, maybe the SB is a little louder and less backpressure but its got to be close!
If they question even came up I'd do the 762Mini over the 556SB. You'll likely get rid of a 556 that's under 10" anyhow, almost everyone does. So might as well the can with a little more versatility. |

i'd like to know this as well. i'm putting together a 300blk upper with a noveske 8.2" barrel and had planned on picking up a 762 mini for it. after 5 months of looking around i found one locally but had talked myself out of it in favor of a sdn-6 because of what i've read about the 762 mini and 300blk subs. I own a legacy 762K and have pending a legacy 556MG - does anyone know ifthe legacy mounts and supressors will continue to be made? Don't get me wrong I like the new ones, but I've already got a number of firearms with the old mounts, and two of the cans.

View Quote I've sen Garin from SF comment on it here or on some other forum. The short answer is that they will until they won't. My WAG is that when demand (as measured by sales, not internet forum posts) drops below a certain level they'll largely shut it down and then make the occasional production run. |

I figure I shoot more 556 than not so it's fine. Although they are basically the same can. The 762Socom Mini has a bigger bore obviously and doesn't have the backpressure vents on the blast baffle. So... for the end user, almost identical. The 762Mini wasn't really even available on my supply chain last year so I took what I could get. Do it over, and I'd take whichever was available, doesn't really matter. If you have 30cal guns though, the mini can be used but it will be loud. A 556 Mini, 762Mini and 762-RC would be a pretty well covered line. Add on a Ti 338 can and it would be over ;) |
|
Makes sense - the 556MG I just got at a great price as per my dealer they're being offered to him (along with some other legacy supressors) at a rather low price compared with the old MSRP. That they were being listed at such a discount made me wonder if production was coming to an end as I'm guessing most people buying new would go for one of the SOCOM cans.
I only went for the 556MG as I'm planning on using it on an 11.5" sbr, don't mind the extra weight but figure a little extra toughness can't hurt. |

I dont think I will ever use it on my AR10 and am leaning more towards just doing the 556RC... But I have that nagging feeling that if i have the opportunity to get something that works on both, why not. |

I just bought 2 of the 556 brakes, 2 of the 556 flash hiders, 2 of the .308 flash hiders, and a .308 brake. |
|
I have had my 5.56 model for about 2 months now. I have only run it on my m16. Works like it should. Not much flash if any at night. I think it is a little louder than my aac 7.62sdn-6 but not much. I still wear hearing protection.
All this was on a 11.5 inch barrel so everything is loud. Running a break mount. The finish is definitely better than aac. I got the can so hot it was glowing and on fire and the finished was not burned off. |

Nope 556-RC. Honestly looks way shorter than I expected. I'm super impressed with the length and weight. |

Got my 7.62 SOCOM-RC out today. Was very impressed with it.
I also have a 5.56 SOCOM-RC on the way. I was considering the Mini at one point but had the opportunity to shoot it and was very unimpressed with it's suppression for only losing 1" of length vs. the stndard 5.56 which was VERY quiet.
