I am kicking around making a bloop tube for my AR 15 service rifle; gonna make a budget space gun.  I plan to thread it and attach it in place of the flash hider and then install a Riles sight on it.  I want to extend it out a bit to benefit from extended sight radius.  The bore of the bloop will be minimum 1/2" possibly larger.  Do bloop tubes have any effect on the gas system?

You're putting a fake 40mm grenade launcher on the end of your rifle for DCM matches and a cheap space gun?

Whiskey tango foxtrot, over?

A bloop tube is a common item used in position shooting match rifles to extend the sight radius of the rifle.  There is nothing unusual about it.

The Bloop tube on your SR should not affect port pressure.

Why not just sell your SR upper and buy a match upper?  Probably won't take much to make up the difference.

I have thought about going what you suggest and start with one of the Bushmaster Varminter uppers (Chrome Molly as opposed to Chrome lined and DCM Profile under the handguards).

I am pretty sure if I do this I would not want a threaded barrel but I have not figured out how to do the bloop tube either.  In an ideal world I would like to add a picatiney rail out there so I could get creative with my front irons.

There are not a lot of places you can buy NRA Highpower uppers...  seems like an opportunity for someone!

I have heard mainly they allow an extension for sights than anything else.  Longer sights always help though.
Go for it but just make sur eto limit contact.
